Does all communication cease following a 50th reunion? I hope not, but it surely seems that way. Hopefully, you're all recovering from that memorable June weekend—or is it the summer doldrums? In any event, news is scarce right now. There is life after one's 50th, so let's hear from you! Fellow insurance retiree Fred Richardson checks in from Naples, Fla., where he and Freda bought a condo in '85, followed by a villa acquisition in '89. Fred was diagnosed with cancer in '83, which has limited his golf and forced him to give up his favorite sport, skiing. However, they've traveled extensively in the Caribbean, Europe, and North Africa. They get together frequently with Ruth andRay Wolfe, Simon and Bob Ott, and Janetand Ben Edmonds. Summers are spent on Drake's Island, Wells, Maine. Fred and Freda made our 50th.

Burrows Barstowe's plans to attend our 50th were derailed by a second retina detachment while traveling in Spain, requiring an emergency return to the states for surgery which, though successful, was too close to reunion to allow him and Katharine to head north to Hanover. Otherwise, all's well. They enjoy lots of travel and tennis. Come on up to a fall "mini," Burrows. The color, spirit, and camaraderie make for a great weekend.

Fritz Geller of Keene, N.H., was honored for his 35 years of scouting leadership with a big spread in the Manchester Union Leader. His "boys" came from as far away as Oregon to pay tribute and celebrate his influence upon their lives. "A very positive role model ... I learned more from him than I did in graduate school," one remarked. A perpetual "campership" has been established in his name to enable local scouts to attend camp. Fritz and Nance were due to ski Mt. Bachelor last Christmas, and Barbara and I were looking forward to their visit. Something caused a cancellation. Hope you make it this year.

"Hex" Harrigan reports from Brevard, N.C., that last year's rain forest has turned into desert due to the drought and heat in the southeast. Elected vice president of their homeowners association, he's dealing with a variety of water-related community problems. Judging from his comments, I'd guess he won't be campaigning for re-election. He was present at our 50th and enjoyed it.

By mid-August Stockwell, Ehinger, and company had apparently topped the $900,000 mark for our 50-Year Class Gift, $ 100,000 over target and a remarkable accomplishment. They deserve a lot of credit.

Sadly, "Bodie" Mosenthal, one of our most loyal mates, who regularly attended fall minis and Upper Valley alumni events along with Bobbie, died suddenly on July 18, only one month after joining us at Reunion. A very moving memorial service was held in Bradford, Vt., which included the singing of "Men of Dartmouth." Our sympathy to Bobbie and family.

See you next month. Please write!
