Its the funniest thing, I'd just been thinking about Dartmouth—in fact, I'd just gotten off the phone with Lynn Johnson Kidder about making hotel reservations for our 25 th reunion, when the call came asking if I could step in for the inimitable Lynn Hollenbeck as co-class secretary. I was delighted because it seemed the perfeet excuse to get back in touch with classmates before that fateful weekend of June 12-15. That's less than a year off, guys, and I can tell you from experience that the Hanover Inn is pretty much booked. Who knew they only allotted a certain number of rooms per class? Does anyone have any pull there? No, no, the dorms will be fabulous!

Since I began this column with Lynn, who is married to Peter Kidder, I thought why not write about '83-'83 couples? Who could possibly have more class spirit? Speaking of spirited, Lynn not only qualified for the New York Marathon this fall (after which she's planning a mini-reunion there with former housemates Jessica Rosenberg Brown, Melissa Kaish Dorfman and, I hope, yours truly), she also recently made a career switch from radiologist to patent agent. Sure, scratch your heads over that one, but Lynn adores her new job crafting patents that can stand up to Silicon Valleys toughest lawyers, and is finding that those historymajor writing skills of hers are worth something after all. Perhaps one day Peter, a senior v.p. at Silicon Valley Bank, will help fund a biotech start-up whose patent Lynn wrote.

You'd think four years of college together would be enough, but not for Kelly (Fowler) and Andre Hunter. They went to business school together as well and then started a travel planning and consulting business specializing in deluxe travel 15 years ago—right before the Internet took off. "The travel industry," Kelly says, "has been...interesting." Apparently '83 couples stick together. For the past 10 years Kelly and Andre have met up with Beth (Winnick) and Mike Falcone at the Preakness horse race in Baltimore, where Beth and Mike live. And since business now brings Mike Coster to New York more often, the Hunters get to see Mike and Kathy Bachelder Coster as well. Here's the real killer: Kathy and Mike have a daughter, Kate, who just finished her freshman year at Dartmouth.

I had completely forgotten that I was on a Toulouse FSP trip with Kelly until another fellow FSPer, Laura Bordiuk Kasler, reminded me. Laura, who lives in Charlotte and is raising two boys (18 and 16), still finds time to do some health care consulting and help her husband with his real estate projects. She had just gotten back from a weekend visiting our superb reunion co-chair Anni Dupre Santry and "trekking up to Dartmouth to see Libby Lawrences son help Dartmouth skate to its fourth National Figure Skating Championship in a row." Wow. Laura also got to spend an afternoon with Betsy Evans Bodner—another Toulouse FSP veteran. Betsy, Laura reports," lives in Cohasset, Massachusetts, does pediatric work two days a week, is married to Randy Bodner '81 and has three wonderful kids."

If any of you find yourselves at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this August, check out the Glance at New York and you'll be treated to the sight of my co-secretary Jim Sterling on stage. But the person Jims really proud of is his mother, Lu Martin. Take time at our 25th to checkout the Lu Martin seminar room in the Kemeny Center, complete with her portrait on the wall. Jim's mom has been a huge fundraiser for the College, not to mention special assistant to all the Big Green presidents from Kemeny to Wright. Back to you, Jim.
