Unfortunately, life is a combination of bad news and good news. Such is the case with the class of '62. Ray Dolan died of a heart attack on December 10, 1989. He leaves his wife, Sandy, and son Bradford. Although a complete obituary will appear in a subsequent issue of the Alumni Magazine, our thoughts and sympathy are with Sandy and the entire Dolan and Bannister families at this time.

At a memorial service for Terry Bendey, held last May after Terry's tragic plane crash, Mike Coffield gave some comments which bear repeating: "Terry is and always will be a butterfly ... his best swimming records were set in the butterfly stroke at Dartmouth. His Marine Corps and commercial flying, and lifelong love of wings, was mirrored in the way he flew on skis and in life itself like a Monarch butterfly ... strong, majestic, and beautiful ... orange mixed with black, fire, and serenity ... Terry Bentley."

About one year ago, business promotions were reported for Barry Alperin and Charles Gaillard. The good news is that their respective firms haven't discovered their incompetence yet and are still moving these two up the corporate ladder. Barry has been named co-chief operating chief for Hasbro Inc., and will continue to have responsibility for mergers/acquisitions, human resources, legal affairs, and marketing for the toy company. Moving from G.I. Joe to General Mills, Charles was recently reclassified as executive vice president of the food and restaurant concern.

While on the promotion front, Jeffrey Sund was recently named president and chief executive officer of Richard D. Irwin Inc., a publishing subsidiary of Times Mirror Company. Jeffrey had been with Houghton Mifflin Company.

One final promotion: our class 50th birthday is coming up on the first weekend in May. Check our class newsletter and Tom Komarek's epistles for the appropriate action. See you then.
