Hail, noble '72s, far and wide! After a brief hiatus from scribing duties, I am delighted to be back among you with news of our brethren across the globe.

Another Commencement has passed, swelling the ranks of our proud alumni. Despite the oppressive heat, everyone came through with gladness and rejoicing, as we did 36 years ago. It doesn't seem possible that these many years have passed. Among the throng of proud parents I had the pleasure of talking with our own Bill French, whose son Billy 'OB is moving on with a Fulbright scholarship. Congratulations! And Bill, I still owe you a ride on the safety boat!

My co-scribe John Rockwell files this report from his own visit to Hanover during reunions: "In response to the College's celebration of WDCR Radio's 50th anniversary a group of about 30 alumni from the classes of'68 through '73 (and a '78 who dropped in) convened at the Norwich Inn for dinner on June 12. The '72 contingent included Bill Downall, Steve Kepes, Mark Stitham, Joe Riley, Chris Brewster, Bob Kirkpatrick, Tim McKeever, Bill Aydelott and John Rockwell. Anecdotes were shared, the infamous Aydelott 'DCR short films were shown and station 'den mother' Evelyn Hutchins, now a spry 89, received numerous ovations from her radio guys. A benign Robinson Hall takeover occurred the next morning as the group toured the station and consumed Lou's donuts." I trust a more detailed account of individual accomplishments will follow in an upcoming newsletter.

I got a wonderful note from Bill Emmons, who with wife Crissy is in Houston, Texas. Bill sounds very upbeat, saying that "in spite of a dozen recent back, hip and knee surgeries" he's doing well in what he modestly refers to as a "moderately successful law practice." Great to hear from you, Bill, and thank you!

Also in the world of law, those who have been following the alleged Hanover High School cheating fiasco may have seen our brother Wayne Young among the names of attorneys involved in sorting this whole mess out. Since some of the cases are still pending at this column's deadline, I can't ask Wayne to comment on their merits, but it's good to see representation of his caliber involved.

By the time this reaches you prez John Burke will have returned from a junket to Georgia—as in Russia, not our Southern state of peach fame. He'd already taken to the skies before I learned he'd left, so I'll have to pump him for details upon his return. Stay tuned in an upcoming column. Finally, your executive committee will be meeting soon to discuss both mini-reunions and the very early planning for our 40th since, as we know all too well, the older we get, the faster time passes. Expect some news of this in the next column.

For now, peace and good health to one and all. I hope your summer has been happy and relaxing! Until we meet again, I remain your faithful scribe.
