Greetings! Finally, news! From someone in the alumni office in Hanover came a copy of a May 12 New YorkTimes article about Reggie Williams, who was in N.Y.C. for surgery to repair damage to one of his knees.
The article summarized Reggie's 14-year professional football career with the Cincinnati Bengals, then focused on his rewarding post-NFL employment and achievements. It also mentioned the physical price his body has paid for the 14 years of heavy pounding. Congratulations to Reggie, who will be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in South Bend, Indiana, July 18 and 19 of this year.
Jim Beattie relayed that he started working for Bernstein Global Wealth Management in Boston. On May 5 he started an 11-week training program in New York. Jim also sent pictures of his maiden voyage to take on Tuckerman's Ravine. It was the same day as the Tuckerman's Inferno, and Jim indicated he celebrated with "4,000 of my closest friends."
In trying to get lots of info regarding the recent Alumni Council election, I found myself following some information that was housed in Facebook. I had to join in order to pursue, and reluctantly found myself in a strange new world. I horrified my 20-year-old, who, when she saw me there, went to her 23-year-old sister, "Sarah, you're not going to believe this! Dad's on Facebook!" I haven't done much there, but did manage to find a few classmates.
Brian "HoJo" Hansen appeared there as his usual jovial self, with bits and pieces of his life in Colorado. Doug Caldwell, my English 5 classmate and fellow former Pioneer Valley, Massachusetts, resident is in the D.C.Maryland area.
Brad Agry is expecting to complete an M.A. in May 2009 from the General Theological Seminary in N.Y.C. Brad has been selected as a faculty member for CREDO, a national program to promote clergy and lay leader wellness in the Episcopal Church. He will be working with ministers and others at various points in their lives, helping them better manage their careers through a series of ongoing workshops throughout the country.
Finally, Sarah Hoagland Hunter was there as well, with the suggestion that I just take down everyone's info from their Facebook page and I'd be all set. Thanks, but no thanks, Sarah, although it would be tempting during one of those months-long news lapses. I just worked with what was sent to me.
Thanks to those who submitted. Others—please get on the bandwagon. Hope you're enjoying your summer.
