Greetings from sunny Lake Tahoe, California. Dave Clem was recently lauded in the Valley News (www.vnews.com/02122009/5398669.htm) for the approach his company Lyme Properties is taking to developing the former Bailey Brothers site on Route 10 in West Lebanon, New Hampshire. Unlike most developers Dave’s company initiated and maintained an interactive dialogue with the neighbors of the development. Consider what happened when Dave appeared before the Lebanon planning board recently to discuss the project: Forty people attended, many of them neighbors, and all who spoke did so in support of his effort. That, as one board member noted, is not the sort of public commentary that planners often hear.

John Wason hinted that we could get details of some of our classmates, such as professional adventurer Tony Sandberg and class guru Peter Laufer (who now goes by the name of Prakash Laufer), by getting involved with Facebook.
Speaking of Facebook, we now have 21 classmates who have joined the Dartmouth Class of 1971 group. Although our demographic is not its primary target, Facebook is proving to be an excellent medium to promote networking and communication sharing. Contact me (Bob Moore) if you need any help joining.
Wayne Hobin passed along a note from Saverios Vrahimis saying that he is still located many thousands of miles away on the Greek island of Cyprus. His small company has grown well and now employs 65 architects and engineers. Two of their main projects currently are the design and supervision of the island’s sewage project and the design of the island’s first marina. Both projects are challenging and exciting, despite the gray hairs that working on long-term projects can generate.
Mark Totman joined CarniVail this year for the first time along with his daughter Kendra (Williams ’05). Mark is president of Bio-Detek, a company dedicated to developing products that help its customers save lives. Their latest product, PocketCPR, is the only cell phone-sized device that helps a rescuer deliver high-quality chest compressions by measuring the actual depth of compression. Mark did mention that he had a yard sale at Snowmass when he unintentionally migrated from groomer to mogul field at his normal high speed and decided that bailing out was the best option. Despite the yard sale, Mark plans to be back next year.
