The annual meeting of the Cheshire County Dartmouth Association was held at the Hotel Ellis, Keene, N. H., the evening of December 26, 1925. The usual business meeting was followed by the annual dinner, after which there was speaking and music.
The guest of honor and principal speaker was Prof. Ernest Bradley Watson 'O2, of the English department of the College. Other speakers were Willis O. Smith '9l, principal of Keene High School, Robert O. Conant 'l3, registrar of the College, William H. Watson 'O3, Elgin A. Jones '74, Judge Chester B. Jordan 'l5, and Maurice Quint '26.
Charles B. Knight 'l3, of Marlboro, president of the Association, was toastmaster, and Roland Whitney '26 presided at the piano.
A rising vote of thanks was given Elgin A. Jones '74, for the beautiful banner presented the Association last year in recognition of the fiftieth anniversary of his graduation from Dartmouth.
The following resolution in regard to the football situation was adopted, and copies ordered sent to the editor of The Dartmouth and the graduate manager of athletics:
Resolved: That this association deplores the sentiment expressed in certain Dartmouth College publications in which it is declared that college football is overemphasized, and this association goes on record as opposed to any modification of the Dartmouth football schedule.
The following officers were elected for the ensuing year: president, Roger W. Goodnow 'l9; vice-president, Dr. Arthur W. Hopkins '99; secretary-treasurer, Forrest J. Hall 'O3 ; executive committee, William H. Nelson '2O, Philip R. Flanders 'OB, Richard L. Holbrook 'l7. The attendance was thirty-six, including several guests.
