Football coaching is a year-round proposition as far as Earl Blaik is concerned. When the current season ends, he expects to launch into the job of building up some of his candidates physically [and scholastically], As an example of what he intends to do, Coach Blaik pointed out the poor shoulder development of one of his most promising linemen and stated that he didn't see why something shouldn't be done about it while hockey and basketball were in the public eye. Such paternal supervision interrupted now and then by visits to alumni centers will take good care of the winter months until March brings the start of another springpractice period. Only summer was omitted from the program which Coach Blaik briefly mentioned, and one knows without being told that the Dartmouth leader will not be idle then either.
The board of interviewers informed Mr. Blaik at this point that certain alumni had expressed a desire to learn something about the new Dartmouth formations. The Green coach smiled at this request, then assumed a very solemn expression, and said, "You are at perfect liberty to explain that we are using a single-wingback formation and an unbalanced line, but what happens after that you will have to guess.
