Joe Cheney, a Republican in Florida, was appointed on October 4th to the three member State Probation and Parole Commission authorized by the 1941 Legislature. Joe is Federal Court probation and parole officer at Tampa where he has served for the past eleven years. The three members were selected by Governor Holland and the State Cabinet from a list of ten top-ranking applicants rated on competitive examination from an original field of 286. He will live in Tampa or Tallahassee as he decides best and his new address will follow. This appointment prevented a trip to New England, planned for this fall.

The class representation at the dinner held at the University Club the night before the Harvard game was small but select. Three came over from New YorkA 1 Dessau, Jack Macdonald and Bill Towler. The Bostonians were Kimball, Merrill, Cushman, Munsey, Ewing and Wilkins. Many regulars were prevented from attending by trips out of town and by military service.

Ralph Samuel's oldest son, Ralph 0., now 26 years old, is at the Armored Force Training Center, Ft. Knox, Kentucky, driving a tank in the "armored cavalry." His second son, Donald, aged 22, is down at Mitchell Field, having enlisted in the Regular Army Air Corps. He has his pilot's license, but because of subnormal eyesight he may move over into the Meterology Division. Howard, 17, is at school and enters college next fall.

Rain finally fell in New Hampshire much to the delight of Harry French and Fred Page for the ban on the woods was lifted. They get out for a good deal of hunting every fall.

A 1 Urion has moved to California and is with the California Shipbulding Corp., Terminal Island in Los Angeles. He is living at 826 So. Hobart Blvd., where he can be found by those touring that state this fall and winter.

Lincoln Wilson was in Boston to attend the funeral of his uncle, Charles Wilson, former head of Raymond-Whitcomb Cos., in October. Line is with the Sylmar Packing Co., Pacific Finance Bldg., Los Angeles, California, olive packers.

We went up to Hanover to sit in the rain during the William and Mary game. Following the deluge there was a meeting for the "D" men in the Trophy Room of the gym. Due to the rain the number there was much smaller than after the Colgate game. Howard Ball, however, was among those drying off slowly. We walked around checking the old records established by 1913 track men, Marc Wright, Jake Enright, Paul Harmon and all the rest. Why not attend next year and meet a lot of the "D" men we knew in college 1909-1913 and those before and after those few years.

Charlie Archer and Marian have bought a farm ori North Main Street in Mansfield, Mass. Will have more to tell about Charlie as a farmer as soon as we can call there.
