One of my keen disappointments of the 1903 Reunion was the absence of Herb Follett of San Francisco. He had made definite plans to be with us but at the last moment was unable to carry them out. It was in 1904 that Herb began his mercantile training with Butler Bros, in Minneapolis, then continued with the same firm in Chicago, and finally in 1928 became manager of Butler Bros., the immense store in San Francisco. In 1938 he went into business for himself in San Francisco, starting a 5 & 10 Cent Store and now Herb announces that he and his son John (Dartmouth '36) have bought the Brown's Variety Store of Paradise, Calif., and that pun or no pun, he is living in Paradise.

To add to all the strain, his wife Ruth has been seriously ill, but is now on the road to health. Congratulations and the best wishes of the New Year to you and yours, Herb, and when another Reunion rolls along, we'll hope to have you with us.

Henry "Hank" Porter of Yonkers, N. Y., contends that he has not entered the circle of "retired gentlemen," but rather that he is enjoying his work at Yonkers and most of all the home-life from which he has had to absent himself many times in his professional career. Happy days, Hank, and may you have many of them.

A letter from Frank Wentworth, and now I am reading between the lines, reads as though there were some ideas in his mind of joining the ever increasing company of 1903 retired gentlemen. He has resigned as President of the East Bay Utility District, a very active organization on the West Coast, and is contemplating an automobile trip through the East. Frank, for many years, has been isolated from contacts with 1903 men and hopes to renew his fellowships by coming back to the hearthstone.

It was my pleasure to write Arthur Decatur of Garden City, N. J., of the reunion events, and in return I have received a fine letter from Nestor, his wife. "Dec" is travelling a rocky road as regards health, though at the present moment he is in fair Condition. He enjoyed the Christmas festivities during which period the family were all together. He sends a Happy New Year greeting to all his classmates.
