This being the annual Alumni Fund issue, we have been instructed to cut our notes by a third to make room for the names of contributors.
Last year, '28 won the Green Derby in the Alumni Fund and we're going to try to do it again this year. Fortunately, we have Bill Morton quarterbacking our drive again and the prospects are bright.
Today's newspapers feature the filing, m New Hampshire, of a complete slate of candidates for delegates to the Republican National Convention pledged to Gen. Eisenhower, thereby bringing the General's candidacy out into the open. Lanky Langdell, Manchester attorney, and Charles W. Tobey Jr. '35 are two of the four candidates for delegate-at-large.
Myles Lane returned to active duty in the Navy from Dec. 22 to Jan. 3, working in the office of his friend, John L. Sullivan '21, Secretary of the -Navy. Myles is a Commander in the Naval Reserve.
Curly Prosser has forwarded two Christmas cards bearing pictures of new '28 offspring: Anne, daughter of Bob and Kitty Maclellan of Chattanooga; and William, son of Bill andElizabeth Ballard of Norwich, Vermont. Anne is the first child for the Maclellans; the Ballards now have two girls and two boys.
Esty Estabrook is Contract and Traffic Manager of the Homelite Corp., Port Chester, N. Y.
Jack lienerson writes: "1 .encountered one Horace. P. Moulton in Providence recently where, as an attorney, he is representing the New England Telephone Cos in its rate case that is still going on. Horace is living next. door to me in Needham I saw the Penn game in Hanover last fall and ran into Barney Norton and George Davis. Frin and our daughter Marie Lou came up and met me in Canaan, N. H., where 1 had been the previous day for a meeting of the trustees of the Cardigan Mountain School We have a good man as headmaster this year, Bob Kimball '3O. Some of the boys may remember him as active in swimming and water polo. My gang (ages 9, 11, and 16) are beginning to get a taste for skiing .and we are planning a trip to Hanover."
George and Suzanne Pasfield of Philadelphia took their children (ages 9 and 13) to Hanover and put them in the ski school from December 26 to January 1.
Shep Shepard, Detroit investment banker since 1928, has moved to St. Louis, where he is in the real estate business at 4028 N. Kingshighway.
Dave McCathie is manager of the Essex County Country Club, West Orange. Daughter Bonnie attends the Kimberley School in Montclair. Dave's current hobby is antiques.
Wally Carr is vice president and treasurer of the North Jersey Trust Cos., Ridgewood; BobKilgore is working tor the Weirton Steel Cos. in New York City and has just moved to Chester, New Jersey. His three boys are in grammar school.
In preparing a mailing list for George Klein, chairman of the New York dinner committee, it was interesting to note that there are 135 members of our class in the metropolitan New York area. Of these men, only 78 lived in the area when they entered college. Boston has the next largest '28 group with 82.
Chris Hackett is advertising representative in New York for The Chicago Sun and Times.Harold Pierce has moved from Peru to Buenos Aires, where he works for E. R. Squibb & Sons. Harv Fisher is office manager and assistant general purchasing agent for the Walworth Cos., 60 East 42 St., New York.
Our mention of the three '28ers who are in the stamp business (Jack Cook, CreightonHart and Charlie Scott), has brought news of other ardent philatelists, including HarvFisher, Art Hassell, Clark Harrington, PaulKruming, Phil Orsi, George Slawson and ErnieWright.
Merrill Hodsdon has two boys in high school in Mamaroneck who hope to go to Dartmouth. Merrill is with the New Telephone Cos. in Mt. Vernon.
Clark Harrington is manager of the Music Copyright Department of the Columbia Broadcasting System. If you're driving on Route 7 in Connecticut between Danbury and New Milford, drop in Amber's (wife's) antique shop at Brookfield.
Bud Ranney has been appointed to the alumni advisory committee of the Public Relations Council of the College. Bud is dramatic critic for The Cleveland Press.
Hertn Schnepel and Marguerite Colie were married December 13, at the bride's home in South Orange. It was quite a Dartmouth affair: Bill Harris came down from Boston, Jack andCornie Herpel came East from Bernardsville, N. J., and Mary and I came from Pennsylvania. Marguerite's uncle, Fred, Colie 'lB, a New Jersey Supreme Court Justice, and his son Runyon Colie '3B were also there. Herm and Marguerite spent their honeymoon at Miami Beacn.
