Class Agent, GEORGE B. REDDING 10 Cranston Rd., Winchester, Mass.
Reunion Chairman, Dick Barrett, and his Executive Officer, Phil Mayher, are in the midst of big planning tor the TWENTIETH in Hanover JUNE 17, 18, and 19. A preliminary announcement to help you make your own plans and insure the reservation of that week-end will reach you soon. Among other classes holding reunions in Hanover that week-end will be '20 and '30, a happy circumstance which, among other things, will provide us with an opportunity to win at least two Softball games, assuming of course that those two classes can field teams.
Had a very nice visit the other day from Professor Dan Marx who was in town on a last minute shopping tour. Dan looks the picture of health, as do all our Hanover brethren, and was looking forward to a cheerful Christmas holiday and vacation in Hanover.
Upon hearing second-hand of Art Clow's recent promotion to the position of Superintendent of Industrial Relations for Western Electric Company, we smoked out the following good report:
"I assumed my present responsibilities as Superintendent of Labor Relations in the Manufacturing Division on October 1, 1948. My duties consist largely of the coordination of our relations with labor organizations at the 12 manufacturing locations involving presently 18 bargaining units. This places me in the fortunate position of not having to participate in any actual bargaining but merely advising and coordinating the Company's agents at the various locations. However, during the years 1939 to 1947, I had my share of active participation at the Kearny, N. J. Works which involved several War Labor Board cases and an extensive N.R.L.B. case on Company domination, plus two strikes.
"I have been associated with the Western Electric Company since graduation, spending most of the time on various phases of industrial and labor relations work, except for a recent period during which I was in the line operating organization as the head of two product shops.
"As I believe your records may indicate, I was married in 1931 and have three sons ranging in age 16, 12, and 8. We live in Short Hills, N. J., having been there the last 14 years.
"During the past three years, I have enjoyed making annual trips to Hanover, as the Company representative, recruiting Dartmouth graduates for employment. This has given me an opportunity to see some of the classmates who are now living there, and renew faculty acquaintances.
"My only recent contacts with classmates has been with 'Bud' Foulks who is now located at the American Express Company office, 26 Broadway. He is still a very eligible bachelor and appears to enjoy that life.
"My wife and I are looking forward to being able to participate in the class' 20th reunion and renew many old friendships at that time."
Professor Mathewson has passed along the good news which he received on a Christmas card that Creighton Ryder Fricek was born September 13, 1948.
Charlie Gaynor's "Lend An Ear," which opened in New York just before Christmas, is an outstanding sell-out hit, having been received with unanimous enthusiasm by critics and audiences alike. The New York Times,Time, and the New Yorker have among others written rave notices, all to the delight of Charlie's host of friends who have been waiting all these years for such well-deserved success to come to him.
Larry Lougee is busily arranging a class dinner in New York to be followed up—if tickets are available—by a theater party.
John Rogers has been appointed Editor of the Cape Cod Standard-Times. Previously John has served in the Editorial Department of the New Bedford Standard-Times, having been Assistant Managing Editor since 1945Prior to his New Bedford association John was connected with the Associated Press in Boston, the Long Branch, N.
