Class Agent, NICHOL M. SANDOE JR. 306 Parkhurst Hall, Hanover, N. H

While rummaging around through my Dartmouth "file" the other night I came across some information which was sent to me this summer. Since it has not been reported in this column as yet I thought that would be an appropriate beginning for thismonth. Possibly some of this is out of date already, but I will anxiously await the protests which will correct the situation. FrankBiggs is an editorial writer and reporter on the Berlin Reporter of Berlin, N. H. Dr. Robert L. Clark is in the Dept. of Ped. (my guess, is that he is a pediatrician) at the University Hospital, Ann Arbor, Mich. Jim Drumm is a sales representative for the Ford Motor Co. Warren Quimby is an engineer associated with Parsons, Brinkerhoff, Hogan & MacDonald in New York City. Dr. Art Staub is at Muhlenberg Hospital in Plainfield, N. J. EdWhite is working for Barre Wool Combing Co. Ltd., So. Barre, Mass. AI Foster is in the sales department of the Boston Plate 8c Window Glass Co. Lewis Steenken is a distributor for Wear-Ever. (My latest information on Lew is that his wife gave birth to a boy, Lew III on December 12, 1948.)

I have a note here informing me that Spence Johnson has joined my former roommate Jim Broderick by going to work as a Group Salesman for Aetna. Of course both of them will starve, I suppose, because my company is getting most of the group business these days (yes, I will repeat the name—Bankers Life Company of Des Moines). At any rate Spence and Connie are living in San Antonio, Texas. The best of luck to you. There is still plenty for all of us.

Bob Loomis, his wife Jean and son John have recently moved to Tacoma, Wash.

I had a letter from Nick Sandoe who just completed a wonderful job as our Class Agent in the last Alumni Fund Drive: "Now a little personal news. I'm leaving for Hanover to begin a job as George Colton's Assistant on the Alumni Fund, Hopkins Memorial and other fund raising programs. It is something I never dreamed I would ever do. The job figures to give me valuable experience, excellent contacts, and more than that a chance to work for Dartmouth and to be in Hanover. I need not add that I'm really looking forward to it." Nick just finished a successful job as campaign manager for Congressman Jacob K. Javits in New York.

Tom Candler sent me a clipping concerning our former secretary. Bud Tyler and Miss Mary Brillhart have announced their engagement. Miss Brillhart was graduated from Moravian Seminary in Bethlehem, Pa., and from Connecticut College for Women. Bud is with Bethlehem Steel.

Tom Armstrong is working for the Farmington Cement Co. in Farmington, Ill. LeeKreindler is attending Harvard Law School. Neale Lawson is working for Aetna Fire Insurance Co. Dick Lewis is engaged in banking in Seattle, Wash. Dr. Harry Roberts is a physician at Columbia Hospital in Washington, D. C. Dick Steiner is with American Linen Supply Co. in Duluth, Minn. Rog Bird is a draftsman with Edwards Co., Norwalk, Conn. Roland Foerster is a law student at U. of California, Berkeley. William Gauntlett is a caterer in Tucson, Ariz. Fred Johnson is a salesman for the Strathmore Wool Co. in Boston. John C. Miller is with the Lester Piano Co. in Lester, Pa. Charles L. Thompson is a medical Student at Creighton Univ.

Jack Gile attended the Cornell game. Which reminds me that I failed to report having seen Bill Portrnan there, too.

Mr. and Mrs. Eliot Mover visited the Han over Inn recently.

Bert Martin and Miss Allene Benners have announced their engagement. They will be married in February. Miss Benners is a resident of Birmingham, Ala., where she was graduated from The Brook Hill School. She attended Hollins College.

Chuck Morgan and Miss Barbara Miller are engaged. Miss Miller is a graduate of Vassar College and is a resident of Washington, D. C.

Miss Margaret Carmichael of Chapel Hill, N. C. is engaged to Edwin Stouffer. Miss Carmichael attended Sacred Heart Academy and Spence School, N. Y., and Sweet Briar College.

The engagement of Miss Gladys Gage of Youngstown and Walter Turner has been announced. Miss Gage is a graduate of Smith. Walter is working for the Castle Rubber Co.

Emmy-Lou De Veau and Gordon Sleeper were married in December. Harry Hampton was an usher. Mrs. Sleeper is a Smith graduate.

Al Buchsbaum spoke recently before the Men's Club of the Second Congregational church in Bennington, Vt.

Bob Ross has recently been appointed special agent for Florida for the American Insurance Group. Bob had spent more than a year as an adjuster with the Bankers Indemnity, an affiliate of the American Group.

Fund Contributors for 1948 282 Gifts (Participation Index 59). Total gifts: $2,343.00 (66% of objective). NICHOL M. SANDOE JR., Class Agent.
