Our annual spring dinner meeting on March 29 at the Indianapolis Athletic Club was attended by 21 mostly-Hoosier grads, who thoroughly enjoyed Alumni Mag Editor Charles Widmayer's account of current happenings in the wah-hoo-wah country. Several of the boys tried to sneak out of the room when college finances and good grades (being turned in by present classes) were mentioned, but came back strong during discussion of the Great Issues course. Charlie's remark that international topics had almost replaced women and sex in dormitory bull sessions as the result of interest in Great Issues broke up the meeting.
Cocktail hour entertainment was provided by the pari-mutuel twins, Alex Thomson '21 and Hank Kingdon '33, who staged a head-on lighter lighting contest. Alex's Dunhill took a 9-8 overtime, sudden-death, protested decision from Hank's underdog and out-of-gas Zippo entry.
Newly crowned Prexy Bob "Bumpo" Siveeney '34 announced that plans are underway for a joint Dartmouth-Princeton picnic and softball blow-out (with wives at this writing) on Saturday, June 4. We'll let you know later about the time and place, but you've got the date—so circle it on your calendar and show. Reports are that the Nassau representatives in this area are flub-dubbier than ever, so don't miss this chance to be on a winning ball team. The 1950 Dartmouth-Michigan football game also popped into the conversation and a straw vote indicated that the local club will be on Hank Peirce's Ann Arbor express en masse.
Present at the spring meeting were: John Mann '94, Dr. Walter Kelly '97, Alex Thomson 21. Garven Dalglish '30 (just moved here from New York with Eli Lilly Co.), Reuben Winchester '23, Rudolf Haerle '24, Dick Zeigler 30, Blaine Miller '31, Gordon Derby '31, Henry Kingdom '32, Henry Peirce '34, Bob Sweeney '34, Herb Knowles '35, John Marsh '36, Ed Eaton '37, George Zeiss '37, Lew Williams '38, Bill McMurtrie '38, Jack Holliday Jr- '43.
Oh, yes. I almost forgot that Greek Mahoney '40 and Walt Kuhn Jr. '41, also attended. They spent most of the evening in a corner eating doughnuts, drinking cokes, and trying to start a pyramid club.
