Back at the same old stand again this month and looking for letters all the harder. First in the order of precedence is the copy that got squeezed out of last month's issue. To wit: While in Hanover this summer we ran into Tom and Mary Jane Baldwin. They were proudly displaying their latest family addition, Geoffrey Daniel, born May 7. They are living at 10 Wilde Ave., Drexel Hill, Pa., while Tom sells insurance in Phila.

Also in Philadelphia in his third year at Temple Med. School is Box Kirkpatrick. Jimmy and I spent a very wonderful weekend with him at his home at Conneaut Lake, Pa., late in August. He's still residing at the AKR House at Temple and would welcome hearing from any and all '4Bs who hit Philly.

Latest casualty list from the marital point of view features Pete Foster, who married Miss Jane Ann Case of Portland, Ore., on September 9. They are now at home at Whirlwind Hilltop, Route three, Wallingford, Conn.

Al Gustafson came through with a full account of his doings, not the least of which was becoming engaged to Miss Nancy Gay Johnson of Warrentown, Ore. She is, at present, a candidate for a Master's in Botany at Wisconsin, having done her undergraduate work at Antioch. Al is at Cornell working on a Ph.D. They are planning a June '51 wedding. The only possible fly in the ointment is that Al is a First Louie in the Marine Corps Reserve. The couple met while studying at the Marine Biological Laboratory at Woods Hole, Mass., this summer. Al spent two weeks at Camp Lejeune, N. C. in July, taking reserve courses, where he met up with Fred Maloney. They evidently ran into some other Dartmouths there and had their recreation running around the Carolina boondocks in a Pershing tank.

Harry W'ood has entered New York Medical College and is living at 179 East 80th St., New York City. He was an usher at PhilGahm's wedding on October 14. Phil is a manufacturer's representative working with his father in Boston. The wedding was in Milton, Mass., but I have no other information on it. I shall be looking forward to a long letter explaining it all, Phil.

Second hand, I received a wonderful letter from Frank Stern who has finally come home to roost after two very exciting and informative years in Scandinavia where he met and married a very beautiful Norse girl. He spoke of a Dartmouth gathering shortly before his return in their apartment in Oslo. Present were Chris Bugge '49, Odd Ramsay '47, Ort Hicks '49 and the Dick Mommsens '45. He says, "So you see Dartmouth men gather together wherever we may go, and love it." The Sterns are in Syracuse, N. Y., now where Frank is teaching geography at Syracuse U. He may be addressed at the Dept. of Geography there.

The weekend of August 19-20 was a busy one for class weddings. Homer Young jumped the gun and got married on Wednesday to Suzanne Bagni. This has me snafued since last month they were planning a November wedding. At any rate, I know how plans can change like that. I got my wife a year earlier than her parents thought I would. Homer is working for M. A. Dyer Cos., architects and engineers, Boston. They are living at 291/2 Mechanic St., Haverhill, Mass.

Stu Craig was married on August 19 to Miss Eleanor Spencer of Garden City, L. I. She is a Holyoke alumna. They are living at Charlottesville, Va., while he attends lawschool at Virginia.

Bill Pruden and his wife of July 21 are in Philly where Bill is at dental school at Penn. Miss Joyce Alice Boardman of Narberth, Pa. and Dave Kurr announced in August. She is a senior at Middlebury. No date has been set for the wedding.

Dan Schuman and spouse have returned to Hartford from a year's study on the violin at the Conservatory of Geneva, Switzerland. They are temporarily residing at Lake Amston, Conn.

Sonny Drury wrote me a very gratifying letter just before his embarkation for England on September 21. He had been a ranger in Wyoming all summer. Apparently he had been out in the open most of the summer and was definitely expounding the clean life of the mountains and mountaineers. All those wishing to trade for office jobs now held may fall in line behind me. I know that I speak for all of us when I wish the best of everything to you in your studies over there, Sonny. You sure did a swell job on these notes and I'll try to do my best at filling in on them while your gone. His address is Queen's College, Oxford, England.

In the same letter came the information that after a summer at Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Bill Malone is back in New York. Bill was accepted at med school at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, but lack of space there prevented his going.

The Inn cards for August show that the Malcolm Simpsons and Phil Shepard were there.

DARTMOUTH POW WOW NEWS: I am penning this while still mighty hoarse from trying to cheer the Big Green Team into more than a moral victory over the behemoths of Michigan. Deadlines being as they are, this will have been overshadowed by subsequent encounters shaping more exactly the timber of our team for this season. The memory of what that team did against Michigan on October 7 will remain fresh in our minds for some time to come, though. Above all, we have nothing to be ashamed of in the 27-7 score. The boys from Hanover made more than a creditable showing.

The gathering in Detroit was quite a revelation. How many people finally showed up for the game will never really be known. They were spread all over town and their arrival and departure was so irregular as to confuse anyone. Many came just for the game. Observed personally in our class were: JayRutledge, T. T. Metzel, Bill Felton, Ken andJean Saunders, Ev and M. A. Wilson, AbeAbrahamson, Loren Spademan, Jerry andDorothy Ludington, Mouse Taylor; there were probably many others whom we either didn't see or didn't recognize.

Going into further detail on these people. Ken Saunders sported his wife of last December, Jean. They are living at 5715 N. Kenmore, Chicago 40, Ill., and assured me that mail would reach them since their rent was paid. Ken is with the Continental Casualty Cos. as supervisor of the Special Risks Division, Accident & Health Department. A title like that makes guys like me who are simply labelled "trainee" drool.

T. T. Metzel, better known to his public as Singin' Twing Neeley, is now holding forth as an instructor in speech at Michigan. He confides that from WDBS he has now gone onto a network of 30 stations, revenue from which keeps him in chow and cigars. His address is 309 Ingalls, Ann Arbor, Mich.

Jay Rutledge was in Detroit on his way to New York from the coast for business reasons. He's in the investment securities business in Oakland. Can be reached at 909 Paramount Road, Oakland, Calif.

Ev Wilson and his wife, M. A., came in from Chicago with the Saunders'. Ev's in the wholesale roofing business and is residing at 534 Hinman Ave., Evanston.

The appearance of A be A brahamson for the Detroit doings was a real pleasure for me since I hadn't seen him since 1945. He's been in New York working with an insurance underwriting outfit but now Uncle Sam has his number and he's due to don khaki on October 25. He said that he didn't think he was going to like it in Indonesia.

Jerry and Dorothy Ludington showed up at the dinner on Friday night, having just returned from a one-week honeymoon. They were married on September 30. Jerry is in business with his father wholesaling magazines in Detroit. They are temporarily living with her parents, just down the block from his. So he can be reached at 101 Longfellow, Detroit 2. All the luck in the world to you both.

Mouse Taylor put in an appearance at the game. He is travelling Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin as a salesman for Yale and Towne. He has no permanent address as he is living in hotels and is always on the move.

Bill Felton was up from Tiffin, 0., where he is in the insurance business with his brother.

Loren Spademan sat with us at the banquet. He is with J. L. Hudson, Detroit's big department store, in the advertising department.

Second hand, we heard of several others. Eddie Shipper is a reporter with the Nashville Tennessean. He broke the story of the location of the H-bomb plant. Charlie McCarthy is in Zanesville, 0., in the meat packing business. Bob Hoekelman is a resident in obstetrics at Mary Hitchcock. He is married. Zilch Zorn is in Hudson, N. Y., learning the machine tool business. Joe Luyckx is at Michigan finishing up. Jack Jansing is with Lord and Taylor in New York. Jerry Wensinger has just gone over to the University of Munich to continue his studies in languages and history.

That seems to tie up the notes for this month. See you in December.
