Down here in South Florida we are fortunate to be in a position where we can enjoy moderate weather (except for the hurricanes) twelve months of the year. All of which means we can look forward to seeing many Dartmouth men who find it convenient? ? ? to arrange business trips this way during those days when it is 35 or more degrees below zero. Last month, though he cannot be classed in the above category, we had a visitor C. E.Maker '39 who was on his way back to the Canal Zone.
In pursuance of the Club plan to have a speaker from the group each meeting BennettWatts '26 came through with a talk about insurance adjusting and inasmuch as our November meeting followed a hurricane he was asked if he had come upon any interesting claims as a result. His answer was that you would be surprised at the number of people who expected a complete overhaul of their cars as a result of the storm. On November first George Patterson '39 gave us an insight into the Florida court organization, a subject he is well able to handle inasmuch as he is a member of the Florida Bar and works hard at it during the time he can take off from his boating.
Phelps (Bud) McKenney '28 came up from his Theatre of the Sea at Islemorada to pay us a visit. However it may have been a mistake because Allan Gottschaldt 'l8 and WarrenChamberlain '20 engaged him in a very heated discussion concerning the various marine displays up and down the Coast. Our Miami Beach contingent is tough to get out but Mike Kantzler '38, one of our regulars, managed to dig Abe Cohen '27 out this time.
President George Loehr '20 brought RalphSethness '38 down from Lauderdale and JohnCook '39 managed to find a good excuse to get away from the grind of the insurance business to stop in. Joe Woods '22 usually makes it down here but the fishing must have been good about then and since he is an ardent follower of Isaac Walton you know the rest.
The Dartmouth Club of South Florida welcomes visitors and our regular luncheons are held the FIRST Wednesday of every month at the Seven Seas Restaurant. Miami.
