We've been asked to shorten up this month so the annual Alumni Fund report can be inluded. There are several items of importance, however, and number one is the assignment of a new Class Agent for two years. As per the recommendation of Johnny Stochwell, the agent will be Vail Haah of West Roxbury, Mass. I called Vail on the phone one day before Johnny notified me he had accepted the job, so our timing was almost simultaneous. However, I take no credit for the assignment, as it was John's choice—and, I quickly add, a fine one. Vail has been an assistant agent for two years, so he has the basic experience which will certainly be most helpful. I'd like to publicly welcome him to the job, pledge my sincere support to him, and hope that the rest of you will follow suit. His is not an easy job, and John's record of the past two years makes it even tougher to have to follow in such footsteps. However, I'm sure that if we all pitch in and do our share when the time comes, we'll be nobly successful.

Last Saturday at Cambridge, at a very exciting game, I ran into a handful of classmates including Summy Ameson, Torn Swartz,Rocket Reed, Fred Briscoe, John Sweetland,Jeff Mansfield, Dick Higley, Carter Hoyt, BobMuenzberg, Dick Moersch and Walt Cairns. Of the group, Reed, Briscoe, Sweetland and I had our wives along. Jay Rosenfield wrote this week that he too was there with wife Barbara. After the game most of those guys showed up at Arneson's apartment for a blast throughout the evening. I had to leave at nine even though it was just getting going. I suspect there were many other mates there, at the game, but for some reason the College rewarded me for the second time this year with excellent seats (top row Dartmouth side on 45 yard line) so that I saw only Moersch within 20 football yards of me. In the six other years I'd attended that game, I'd never been above the eight yard line, so this was a distinct surprise. And I suspect that's why my list is .so small. This week Pat and I close up our season by going to New Haven. Perhaps this week's list will be bigger. I know Jim Huntington will be there, as he wrote me last week and told me the Westchester County Dartmouth Club was organizing a picnic at one of the big parking lots there.

If I had not already made ticket and other reservation commitments for Saturday, I'd have attended Brud (Roland G.) Becker's wedding to Miss Jane Barnes of Bellerose, N. Y., down there. I appreciated the invitation and am sorry I didn't know sooner.

Rocket Reed, with tongue in cheek, asked me to please announce his marriage of last July 14 to Miss Barbara Jane Bee of Bloomfield Hills, Mich. It appears that although I had written up their engagement in last May's issue I missed the wedding notice, and since the family is now known to consist of some portion of a third member, he wanted no misunderstandings. Of course, I can't imagine anyone misunderstanding, but I promised to oblige... . Fred Briscoe while on a business trip to Guatemala met JimmyClarke, a resident there, and somehow got out of buying Jim's proffered all-expense tour to Chichicastango, wherever the hell that is ...

Jay Rosenfield announced in his letter that he's at Newport, R. 1., in the Navy, in the Officer Candidate School with only one month to go before he gets "a half inch stripe (1 gold bar), a pay increase, and shipping orders." ... Dave Vogels writes from his new apartment in San Antonio where he and wife Mimi are settled after a splendid honeymoon in Bermuda, despite hurricanes Fox and Easy. ... John Everatt's mother forwards the information that he is an Air Force Cadet at Goodfellow Air Base, San Angelo, Tex. He has finished and passed his pre-flight training... . Rank Lashmet writes up the Chicago area to say that Frank Stowell is engaged to Miss Louise Jones of Buffalo, N. Y„ that Ed Barnett is also engaged but Rank can't recall gal's name, that he saw Cal Titus, wife and baby daughter Kathleen on Labor Day, and same day saw Spike Smith and wife in from Detroit for weekend. Spike is covering Northwestern Ohio and Southeastern Michigan as a salesman for American Hospital Supply, working hard and loves it. .. .He says Bud Hughes is in the Coast Guard working on a commission and that the day after he entered it, he received word that an applied-for Air Force commission was O.K.—too late, of course. Rank thinks Bud's now at New London (Connecticut, that is . ..).

Naval Aviation Cadet Clayt Morey has graduated from Pensacola'.s Pre-Flight School and is now assigned to the U.S. Naval Auxili- ary Air Base, Whiting Field, Milton, Fla., where he is engaged in primary flight train- ing. Upon completion of training at Pensa- cola and Corpus Christi, Tex., he will be awarded the gold wings of a naval aviator and assigned to duty with the fleet.... Pfc.Lee Fancher is an instructor in electrical engineering in the Etajima Specialty School on Etajima Island in the Sea of Japan.. .. George"Zeke" Thurlow was elevated to the rank of Second Lt. at Quantico, Va., as an enlisted Marine. ... Last September ss the LynneWhite-Ann Duvall wedding took place in Cleveland.... Engagements of the month include Bob Muenzberg of Port Washington, N. Y., to Miss Donna Lee Oosting of West Hartford, Conn., and Shepard Robinson of Westfield, Mass., to Miss Louise Foster Marsh of Crafton, Pa. . ..

Have to cut this short n0w.... More next month when I have more room. Where will I see you next???? If not soon, then write!!!!!
