The Pan-American Room, Hotel Columbus, Miami, was the setting for our holiday luncheon. It was held December 27, as a preliminary to the Dartmouth-Miami basketball game that night. We had as our guests Jack Harding, Athletic Director of Miami University, Coach Hart Morris also of the University, Coach Doggie Julian and his Dartmouth squad, undergraduates home for the holidays, and fifteen highschool boys who have indicated their desire to enter Dartmouth next fall. I don't know who the youngest alumnus was but the oldest was Albert DodgeJones '98 and runner-up was Col. HenryTeague 'OO. We had a grand total of 54, which is a sizable crowd, and we were able to seat the highschool boys in such a manner that they certainly could absorb some Dartmouth spirit.

Coach Julian told us of his impressions of Dartmouth as a newcomer and in him Dartmouth sure has a loyal son by adoption. He put into words the thoughts each and every Dartmouth man cherishes and why he hopes that when his son grows to college age he will be able to go to Dartmouth. Inasmuch as Coach Julian is experiencing his first year at Hanover his talk was just the thing for the highschool boys. Dick Barnes '51, the team manager who arrived ahead of the team, was of inestimable value as a liaison officer between the squad and the Club.

In the evening over 70 loyal supporters showed up to form a cheering section and for a time it looked like the day would be a complete success, but the final score did not bear this out.

Today, January 3, we held our regular luncheon, but due to the holiday let-down the attendance was a bit off. However plans were discussed for an April meeting which should be a humdinger and I hope that any visitors in the area from Palm beach to Key West will contact me for information.
