A '53 plea to '45: Please don't forget to send that check along to Rod Walser The Class needs it, and you need it to assure continuance of your ALUMNI MAGAZINE subscription. Some of you have a very tenuous grip on Dartmouth and '45. We don't want to lose you, and I'm sure you don't want to lose us. It's too important a connection.
The Class of '45 has a pretty good representation in various Dartmouth functions around the country. If you live in one of these areas, give these fellows a call and see what's up. Here's a list. Peter Beck, treasurer (and about everything else), Dartmouth Outing Club of Boston; John Leggat, vice president, Dartmouth Club of Lowell; Stan Newton (besides being our class agent), secretary, Nashoba (Mass.) Dartmouth Club.; Jim Broderick, secretary, North Shore Dartmouth Club (Mass.); George Merrill, secretary, Dartmouth Association of (Portland); Art Jopson, secretary, Dartmouth Alumni Association of Philadelphia.
Here's the news: First on the agenda is a letter from Tom Maver, Kenosha, Wise. He reports working for the Simmons Cos. (which leaves me "flat"), seeing Jug Agry quite frequently, also Will Hufstader Bonnie, and their family, and meeting Charley Holt and Nancy at a Green Bay Packers football game. Tom and Amy are busily raising two daughters, Marianna and Bonnie Jean, who was born last Mayl Thank you muchly, Mr. Maver! Here's a letter from Mrs. Robert Bessoin Bob has been called back into the Army as a first lieutenant, Florence says, and she wants to make sure that we record the birth 0f William H„ last August 29 - the first boy after two girls. Done, Florence, and many thanks for your note.
Coming up in the world: Charlie Morgan, winner of top scholastic honors of the Washington Chapter, American Institute of Banking. Charlie is the assistant manager of the Wisconsin Ave. branch of American Security and Trust Cos., Washington, D. C. GeorgeRice, appointed assistant professor of psychology at the University of Wichita. George specializes in child and experimental psychology. Ed Smith, named director of the Federal District in Boston's 1954 Red Feather Campaign. Ed is associated with the First National Bank of Boston. And last but not by any means least is our ex-secretary, Rex Felton, who was awarded top professional designation of Chartered Life Underwriter on August 26 by the American College of Life Underwriters. Congratulations to you all.
Odds 'n ends from here 'n there: Don Cole and family (wife and three boys) are back in Hanover. Don has completed his residence in dermatology at Cincinnati and takes up his new job as Instructor in dermatology and syphilology at Dartmouth Medical School. Bill Protman and Joan in Hanover for the opening of the deer season. Tom Lantzas recently joined the Dee Engineering Cos. as an industrial sales engineer. Now living in Plainville, Mass., Tom's area is Eastern Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Maine. Wife Joan reports that we've never mentioned son George Steven, now two. Now we have! Mrs. Bob Tirrell writes that Bob is busy with his New York City dentistry office, building a garage, and helping set up this year's Community Chest Drive in Cresskill, N.J., but also finds time to enjoy son Scott.
And so that's all for this month. I've got more but it will have to wait, for the 1953 Alumni Report is to be found in this issue. The list of contributors has usurped my allotted space. See you next month. How about that Yale game!
