Columbia Post-Mortems: After a spinetingling (and toe-numbing) afternoon at Baker Field on the afternoon of November 7, hundreds of Dartmouth alumni from the New York area, accompanied by their wives and guests, made the Dartmouth Club their starting point for what we hope was a most pleasant evening for all. Though more than a few doleful visages passed through the portals at the outset, gaiety, sparked by the music of the Alvy West trio, soon prevailed. Kudos to Jack Vincens '39 and his highpowered entertainment committee.
Those You Know: New Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York is J. Donald McNamara '45.
Enjoying (?) the current truce quiet in Korea are Henry Nachman '51, with K Co., 5th Regiment, APO 52, San Francisco, and Lt.Whitey Hand '51.
Recent engagements: John Griffith '49 to Jane Ann Berg of South Orange, N. J., and Dick O'Leary '48 to Rita Barker of Bronxvilie. Nice knowin' ya, fellas.
Club Activities: The College Club Bridge League has swung into its annual autumn season, and the combined Dartmouth-Brown team has started off with a bang, by walloping the Williams aggregation. Capt. Dick Rubens '23 has hopes ,that this year his club may go all the way.
Meanwhile, Ort "Iron Mike" Hicks '21 is rounding his squash team into winning form for the coming season. While seeking new faces for his Knights of the Closed Courts, Ort is justifiably proud of the record compiled by Dartmouth alumni playing with other organizations. Item: Bobby Reeve '38, under the banners of the New York Athletic Club, was placed fourth last year in the Class A official rankings of the Metropolitan Squash Rackets Association.
Karl Pittelkow '29, member of the Board of Governors and erstwhile chairman of the House Committee, is now an executive with the Bridgeport (Conn.) Metal Goods Mfg. Co. Members of nine classes enjoyed class dinners at the Dartmouth Club during the month of November. All Dartmouth men in the vicinity are advised to watch for bulletins stating the date when their classes will convene; these affairs are too good to miss.
Whenever you're in or near Manhattan, don't forget that Dartmouth headquarters in New York are inside the green door at 37 East 39th St., just off Park Avenue. Stop in to say hello; you're always welcome, and always sure to find someone you know.
