First Alumni Luncheon a Success: On Friday, November 12, more than 300 Dartmouth alumni residing or working in New York City gathered at the Hotel Statler for the first in what is expected to be a series of luncheon banquets. Speaker on this notable occasion was Director of Athletics Robert "Red" Rolfe '31, who delighted the large group with his address. Door prizes added to the festivity, and a list of those present would read like a "Who's Who" among metropolitan alumni. Congratulations go to John Vincens '39, chairman of the committee which arranged this successful function, and Carl Ray '37, president of the Dartmouth Club of New York, who acted as toastmaster.
Brochure Out: All alumni (about 5,000 of 'em) in and around the City received in November a handsome 16-page brochure depicting the facilities and services ofEered by the Dartmouth Club of New York. Attractively covered and illustrated throughout in the most humorous fashion concoctable by one of the town's finest advertising agencies, this addition to the world's great literature owes most of its content to Stan Jones '18.
Christmas Party Coming: As usual, the Board of Governors will sponsor a Holiday Tea Dance sometime during the last week of December. Exact date for this annual event has not yet been announced; all members should keep their plans flexible, for this has proved to be one of the real social highlights of the year.
Here and There: On October 27, some 50plus chairmen of the interviewing committees, which assist the Admissions Office in its never-ending endeavors, met at the Dartmouth Club to hear addresses by Al Dickerson '30, Bob Hage '35, and Eddie Chamberlain '36, with the latest word from the Hanover Plain. The meeting was arranged and presided over by Carl Hess '34.
Among those joining the benedicts recently were Clint Mason '53, married on October 9 to Sylvia Breuchaud, and Doug Leigh '46, wed on October 30 to Nance Wheelwright of Riverside, Conn.
Class dinners have been rolling along at a merry clip. A total of some 76 of these events is scheduled for the year, though more are being added upon request of particular classes. Notices will be sent to all class alumni in advance of each dinner.
