As we neared the end of a ski season that had Vermont and New Hampshire resort operators smiling broadly for the first time in many years, it was good to hear that classmates far removed from this area were continuing to be active in the sport that many of us first learned at Dartmouth. Akron-based Dick Silver reported, "very good visits, and good skiing, at Big Sky, Mont., with JohnBrewer one day and John Montagne another. Montagne and I also skied a day at Bridger Bowl... just north of Bozeman, where John lives." Dick also enjoyed a veiy pleasant dinner at John and Phoebe's home where, I can confirm, the hospitality is as spectacular as the view. Brewer, who lives in Driggs, Idaho, had to drive two and a half hours to Big Sky but said the skiing was worth it.
Reminiscing about a visit to Tucson some years ago by John and Jean Kemeny, BillFoster writes that he asked President Kemeny, "What is the most important thing drat has ever happened in your life?" Smiling, the president said, "It was a long time ago. Recendy graduated from Princeton, I was given a graduate assignment to work with Albert Einstein developing some new mathematics. I had the excitement and thrill of being involved in the middle of that!" Bill also reports he has been out of circulation for about three months but is now successfully sporting an AICD (Automatic Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator). "It was only the third one they've done at Tucson Medical Center....
With this, I'll probably be able to make a lot more reunions." That's our wish for you, Bill. And in that regard, you and others may want to pencil in our October 22-23 mini-reunion (Cornell game) for which Hunt Allison has wangled for our class exclusive use of The Dowd's Country Inn on the Common in Lyme. Watch for details in Lipp's newsletter.
My Guardian Angel at the DAM has just given me an exciting Wand Flash: those of you with a computer rigged for "e-mail" can now send me news of yourselves and friends painlessly by typing it on your keyboard and dispatching it (electronically) to .
