Sid Hayward '26, Secretary of the College, spent March 18 in Charlotte, N. C. It was an honor and pleasure to have an officer of the College visit with us and proved a stimulus which brought Dartmouth activities in the Carolinas to a new high.

Following a most enjoyable stag luncheon at the Charlotte Country Club, a number of local and visiting alumni took advantage of a perfect spring day and played a round of golf. The final outcome has never come to light, but a good time was had by all, particularly Sid, who hadn't seen green grass and warm sunshine for months.

A reception and dinner were held at the Charlotte City Club that evening for alumni members and wives. An atmosphere of informality prevailed, making it easy for everyone to become well acquainted. Sid's after-dinner remarks brought us up-to-date on Dartmouth in general and were greatly appreciated by all. The latest color-sound movies from Hanover were shown and since most of us haven't been back to the campus in years, it was a real thrill to see the great progress which has been made there. Of the 20 alumni who attended the dinner, John Sanderson '11 represented the earliest class and Carlton Evans '48 and George Opp T'50 the most recent classes.

As the meeting adjourned everyone agreed that we should: (1) Do more to promote increased attendance at Dartmouth by students from this area; (2) have an annual or semiannual Dartmouth alumni meeting somewhere in the Carolinas.

Secretary, 2921 Hampton Ave., Charlotte 7, N. C.
