There's full color on Balch Hill about now and some fairly high color in the summer stories of '46 at large.

Don McAllister's wedding kinda started the good months rolling with a champagne studded '46 reunion. Don married Katherine Percy in a very inspiring service at the historic St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Bedford, N. Y. The reception was held at Katherine's home out on the lawn while tireless troubadours played and happy beverages were in hand as we viewed a magnificent lake scene. Joe and Dot Poole arrived in the nick of time. Joe just had time to sneak out into the brush to switch into his "J. Squeeze" blue. Joe is in the house-building and contracting business with his dad in Phila. He looks a little heavier around the middle and maybe a little lighter topside, he was last heard insisting on '46 counting on the new farm he bought near Hanover to be a part of our big 10th Reunion. You can bet we will Joe, Andy Murtha make note of this please. Dick and Marcia Allen were up from N.Y.C. to send best wishes to their fellow Manchesterian. Dick is a Wall Streeter and they are living in Stuyvesant Town—that's the Wigwam Village of N.Y.C.

This summer saw some nice progress for our faithful. T. Andrews joined McCue, Alsop, & Elliot, a Richmond, Va., Insurance Firm. T. will be a resident agent. He was formerly a staff accountant at Andrews, Burke & Co. George Hopkins continues his meteoric business success, being recently upped to group regional manager for Mass. Mutual. He is very active also in the Springfield Dartmouth Club as secretary-treasurer; missed you in Hanover last spring, George. Malcolm McLane headlines Concord, N. H., papers with stories of his candidacy for county solicitor on the Republican ticket. He startled the voters with a long letter to each listing his qualifications for the job. Malcolm is an attorney up there and he is really digging for this nomination. Jim Barnet was named Chairman for Business for the Wellesley Community Chest. Jim is Sales Manager for J. S. Barnet & Sons in Boston. The old rock climber, Phil Osberg is making his devoted interest a reality in the teaching profession. Os is now an associate professor of geology at Colby College. Some good rocks round there, Os. George Walley just finished an intensive course in claims management for Liberty Mutual. He was chosen with only 13 others from nationwide competition. George represents the company from the Boston office. DickWard is now a major at Brooke Army Medical Center in Houston. He served in Korea as a surgeon and currently is the chief resident in orthopedic service. A little probing via this column brought Al Belinkie into action with news of his doings. Al is a lawyer in Bridgeport with Friedman & Friedman. He married the former Hilda Friedman and they have two boys, 5 and 2 years old, and as a matter of fact by now the third baby has arrived, - no details as yet. The Belinkies are living in Stratford and Al says he still plays that smashing game of tennis, but keeps closer to the cold cans in case anyone might drop by. Marj Striker sent a nice note about husband Bill. They just had a little girl Nancy Laurel last spring and between bottles, burping, and night walking, Bill is clearing their 1.1 acres readying it for the new house he plans to build.

The class exec committee joined in with Jack Whitman's agents to really go all out on this year's record Alumni Fund. Jack got the top number of contributors of all classes. Along with their reports they sent along some interesting bits of themselves and '46s nearby them. Art Young will not return to Yale to coach. He's got a fine spot with Pabco Products out in Denver. All that drive and enthusiasm is being applied to linoleum tile buyers now. Jim Shute is keeping an intriguing bachelor quarters in Cambridge on Dana St. Zero in on him for pre-Harvard refreshments. Jim says he gets over to the O.G. or the Wursthaus for a beer during the warm nights. Hank Stern responded from Richmond where he is with a millinery firm and also owns a successful motel on the southern highway route.

Jack Novascone has just moved up to San Francisco with the Simmons Co. He really enjoys the West Coast way of life. Hal Bowman resigned from Gulf Oil, came home via Texas, checked in to see the old buddy JoeDonahue, and on the spot joined Joe's firm - the Three States Natural Gas Co. And the position is Asst. to the President. Man, how that redhead moves. Joe had a little vacation time back up in the Boston area, he and Eileen were on the Cape for a couple of weeks and then returned to the Dallas cool of 108 degrees.

Walt Snickenberger contacted a group of the boys in the upstate N. Y. area. Just learned that Mary is quite ill. Our sympathy is extended here, Walt; hope by now things are all back to normal at your new home. JimOneil writes on his very own firm's business head - JAMES E. O'NEIL ASSOCIATES INC., Westport, Conn. He has just come back from a six-week trip to see his customers in Latin America. He and Pat have 2-year-old boy and expect their second "little wheel" in October. Jim ran into Hal and Gloria Bowman in New Orleans on his trip. From the land of cotton Philbo Stedfast beams in with news of the city planning progress and his plans for vacationing up Boston way with Dot this fall.
