An advance notice to all anticipating Mardi Gras visitors - Obe Obermayer will not have room in his "Old Coffee House" quarters to put you up but he'd be delighted to see you. Obe sends a most enjoyable letter with news of his New Orleans ventures and some welcome words Of other '46s. Until this official notice from Obe came in, I had him located with The Times-Picayune, a grievous error; I learn he is with The New Orleans Item, and in this town newspapers really compete. He is classified advertising manager and is thriving on it. He built to the job with some excellent reporting experience for the DailyPress on Long Island and then went over to the business end of newspaper work down there. Obe tells us that Dick Mason phoned recently from Atlantic City with the word that he is still a bachelor and is in the wholesale grocery business with his uncle. Haven't seen Dick since he moved his convertible (not Castro) in next to Marilyn Monroe's on the Boardwalk at a Miss America Pageant. Then on a trip North Obe saw Steve Kaplan, also a bachelor, who is in the mad TV world for that famous ad agency, li'l 01' BBDO. While in New York, he also visited with Larry Silberstein who is a settled and happy married man, and is in the woman's garment manufacturing business. Also a report that TedFajen is in Milwaukee working for Miller Hi-Life Beer - now there's the Dartmouth man's dream job (Faj, those $20 tails still fit well, and I'm getting a few more formal miles out of them).

From out of the West comes another letter from the world's greatest enthusiast - ArtYoung, who applies this drive for volume sales for Pabco products (Linoleum tile). Art has definitely left the coaching field for business. He travels a whale of a territory, Colorado, Texas, California, - it sounds like anywhere West of the Mississippi.

The Class of '46 had a loud and strong turnout in New Haven for the Yale-Dartmouth game. The Green played well, and even in chilling weather 30,000 fans showed and stayed for this great annual. This year, to avoid the unpleasantness of a Yale's "J Squeeze" tweed itching us, we sat out in the rush seats. The Bob Winstanleys got there early for a little parking-lot warm-up. Under a beach umbrella came Frank and Pat Ettari along with Bob Leslie in a Sherlock Holmes hat (Betty was home with their new baby boy), then came Don and Fifi McAllister up from N. Y. and telling of plans to move out to the country, those Stuyvesant Town trembles are getting them. 46's former Big Green Captain, Dale Armstrong, was aboard for the pregame exercises, didn't spot Gloria but believe she was back at the car with guests. Dave andJean Weld held forth with a modulated cocktail hour before the game and shifted into high gear at Al Worthen's '44 annual classic after the game. Dave had a few distressed fruit wood panels for sale which he vends from the trunk of his car.

This very day on a late return from lunch, who should turn up on the corner of Madison and 46th but Attorney Charles Duncan. Charlie now has his own law practice in Washington, D. C„ which is commendable progress in so short a time out of school. He and Dorothy have a son.

Paul Lux has just moved up to assistant-to-the-president of Lux Clock in Waterbury, Conn. Paul was formally sales manager of the industrial division. Jim Felter left this past summer for Saudi Arabia to be an engineer for Aramco Oil (Jim, that French training under Monsieur Dunham will have to be traded in on a little Arabic). Jim did graduate work at MIT, joined Colorado Fuel and Iron Corp., returned to the Navy for two more years' duty in Italy, and now goes among the Shahs to make some bucks. Bill Cary joined the New Salem School teaching staff in Athol, Mass. Down in Augusta, Ga., Jim Pettit and Jean Johnson were married on September 11. Jim is with Linde Air Products Co., and Jean, who attended University of Georgia, was with the State Hiway Dept:

The Bob Hunts just had a baby girl, Deborah Weeks; this makes three children, right? And to Dr. Nick and "Popgun" Vorys out in Columbus, 0., a new baby daughter Ann. Ellen tells us that Nick is a resident in internal medicine at the Ohio State Univ. Medical Center. Congratulations Hunts and Vorys, the Pierce boys will extend Winter Carnival bids in 1972.

Eldon Wallingford has just been assigned to the Hanover Bank's out-of-town division to represent the bank in N. Y. and Conn. He was in the bank relations and credit departments prior to this promotion. To wind up, there comes news of Mac McLane heading the GOP Finance Committee in Concord for this year's campaign. Looks like you did a right solid job for the party, Mac. Mac is a lawyer with Orr and Reno in Concord and ran for county solicitor.

Make this a Merry Christmas for a worthwhile soul - buy yourself a new suit.
