Birthdays keep acoming to us of '99 as well as to the rest, so birthday greetings to those who once were December babes: Ed Allen,Montie Fuller and Joe Hobbs. Looks like Bill Wiggin still leads the pack for offspring, for with his report of another granddaughter to his daughter Jane Robillard last July in Detroit, his count for children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren stands at 22! He has a son in high school.
Rodney and Margaret Sanborn spent their summer as usual at their summer residence "Stonyvvall" in the White Mountains, called on by Warren and Helen Kendall, and also by the second hurricane that treated them rough. Blew a large tree over onto the barn, ripped off many shingles, and ruined most of the awnings, coming as it did with but little warning. Had to have all the buildings reshingled. They go to Miami about Christmas time for the winter, and by the way things look up North they think they may have to go South earlier next tall to escape the hurricane season, which at least this year seems to have shifted.
K Beal writes that good wife May is almost wholly recovered from her serious operation of last spring. Though Hurricane Hazel came K.'s way, she did very little damage; took a few light branches from his trees. The Beals had an enjoyable call from Dave and EstherParker, who were also down Winchester, Mass., way to see Wash and Tat Irving, and report Wash as holding his own since we last saw him at reunion in June. Wash didn't like those hurricane girls, Carol and Edna, for one of 'em blew a large tree over onto the garage, but fortunately didn't damage the car which was inside at the time.
Joe Gannon was in Hanover for the Colgate game, and also went to see the Beals at their cozy home in Bradford, dropping round by Newport to see the Hawley Chases, only to find that they were at Montclair, N. J., as was the case when your Sec tried to see them last spring. Just as an offset, Hawley called to see Joe at his New York office with The New YorkTimes when Joe was in Hanover. Joe also reports a pleasant visit with Bill Wiggin and his wife Glenna at their home in Exeter, N. H.
You want more news? Then just send along more to your Sec.
