Dashing through a snow-job with the boss and listening to jingling bells, we have perceived that the season of the schuss-boomer is upon us. Any of you transferred to the sunny South since last year's sessions on the slopes can send your extra ducats on the better chair lifts to the address above, but meanwhile let's see who's lined up at...
THE HITCHING POST.. .. September 25. Gwendolyn Patricia Hall and Dave Donahue swapped "I do's" in North Falmouth, Mass. Amongst those collecting tickets were JackNewkirk, Ken Sutherland and Gene McCabe. Jack recently joined his dad's accounting firm in West Yarmouth, and Gene is pushing sales of Socony Vacuum out on Long Island. The bride, a model no less, is a grad of Academie Moderne in Boston. Dave's in the wool biz and has set up housekeeping in Brookline.
First of a brace of nuptials on October 2 concerned Phil Kent and the former Marie Elenore Donovan of Lawrence, Mass. A Colby College (rot the J. C.) 1951 alumna, Marie also graduated from Mass. General School of Nursing.
Same day in Milton, Mass., Mary Alice Jakmauh and John Dwyer were wed. Mrs. D. has Manhattanville College for her alma mater. Assuring decorum in the wedding party was Dick Howden as .an usher. Monk's doling dollars with the Franklin Society Federal Savings and Loan Association.
WALKING THE LAST MILE Had a nice letter from Al Harquail that was slightly nauseating in that it was headed by a gold USNA seal. Howsomever, this junior grade leftenant at the Boat-and-Barge club of the Severen is mashing molars following his graduation from the U. of Penn Dental School in June and reports happily that a Florida wedding is planned in grapefruit land come Christmas, with Vivian Small of Fort Lauderdale. This gal is from Wellesley and with Remington Rand.
Proving that it pays to attend Dartmouth functions, as if it needed further confirmation, we went to Dartmouth Night in Chicago and learned from the Tastee-Freez man from South Bend that he's planning an aisle-sauntering in January. That would be Ed Tuck who reveals the damsel's moniker is Marlene Murphy.
BOTTLE BATTLE The autumnal crop of kids is fairly well harvested by now and we are pleased to introduce you to six guys and a doll. A really cute Life magazine went to a birthday party for Catherine Mary Waterman, initial charmer for Kitty and BobWaterman. Pertinent data listed Cathy's weight as 6 pounds, 13¼ ounces on September 20.
Among the gentlemen added to our family are two young Fergs. Nancy and Ben Ferguson are proud parents of Richard, born May 10, 1951, and Douglas, same date last spring. Ben labors at the National Shawmut Bank in Mattapan, Mass., while Nancy compiles info for us, such as the fact that "Knuckles" Bob Wilson and Sherm "The Incher" Clough are rooming together in Salem. Wils spent his vacation in Florida last summer with a side jaunt to Cuba. "Fizz" Nichols, according to Mrs. Ferguson, is still grinding at grad school (but which one?) while the Dick Ceely clan spent some vacation time on the Cape in September. Dick is in a management training program with the Friendly Ice Cream Company, by the by. Sorry, Nancy, we haven't had any word from Bucko Marsh either.
Building a Big Green football squad down in D. C. are Biz and Jim Birney. Reed McDowell Birney was their third son, born on September 11. Says Biz, "Ain't we got fun?" Yeah, man.
Good news from Haddonfield, N. J., where Jim and Bunny Myers have their second boy, William Kevin, who arrived at 10 A.M. October 5, weighing 7 pounds, 14 ounces. Congrats to Jim, also, on a new adobe hacienda and his promotion to assistant to the Accounting Department Head at Campbell's Soup.
The report from Jerry Smith is that spouse Peggy presented him with an 8-pound, 13ounce boy on October 12, last year. Guess we're just a little late in reporting that. The lad, Stephen Macdonald Smith, is named for grandpappy, Class of '13. Jerry's a procedures specialist with General Electric in Bridgeport.
We had a nice note from Sherm Hoyt who's stationed at Mather AFB Hospital near Sacramento, Calif. "I am doing my best to further increase the population by being assigned to the at service. AFB am married and have a 10-month-old son, Thomas George." That helps, too, Sherm!
Welcome, wee ones, and well done's to the proud papas and mamas!
INKADENTAL INTELLIGENTZ.... We intimated last month that this column would reveal the lurid details of life in the Windy City, but because we have such an impressive list of contributors to finish off, and also because as we hunt-and-peck these scribblings, we see we have two more weeks of spying available, we'll have it next time.
Brooks Barvoets is with the Williams Press in Albany. A little bit further up the road in Rutland Bob Allcott is advertising and relating publics or some such thing. Carroll Huntington is an ad artist for Edmund A. Whitten, Inc., in Boston. And of all people, who should be with Stinehour Press, Lunenburg, Vt., publishing and printing? Rod Stinehour, of course.
Hats off to Steve Pollak and Bob Sisk, both of whom were selected as members of the edit board of the Yale Law Journal. Pardon the dirty Eli word, but that's an honor accorded only to the real grinds, you know.
Quite a few Hanover Inn-dians have been heard of lately. In July it was the Jack VanZoerens and Monty Millers and Bill Weissman. August visitors included Fred Rogers and bride and Curt McKee who's teaching English at Sanborn Seminary in Kingston, N. H. Dare say there were a pot load during the football season, too, but we haven't the list of returnees.
Around the big city, Wes Field is with Chase National Bank and Bill Cross has Time on his hands in their comptroller department. Bill Dey was encountered in the middle of Madison Ave. at 38th St., and we snarled traffic for ten minutes. Bill is a huckster with J. M. Mathes and is already looking for a baby sitter for the tenth reunion to make sure he doesn't miss that one. Ray Myers is toiling for Prentice-Hall, Inc., and doing a good job of livening up those Rangers.
Some of the legal beagles unheard of for a while might include Ted Prime, who's hung a shingle in Rochester, N. Y., and MurraySayer, who did the same downstate in White Plains. Across the river and into the fees is Pat Dolan, who passed his bar exams in June. Pat was good enough to straighten out records with the names of his two stalwart offsprings, the second of whom was christened Peter Lewis, born December 19, 1953. Also in the garden state, same profession, is Lee Sarokin.
Larry Huntley was ordained June 13 at the Church of Christ in Hanover, having graduated from the Andover Newton Theological School. John Gammie is chaplaining with the 232 nd Infantry Regiment, APO address, San Francisco.
That'll have to do 'er, guys. Be sure to stock up on chlorophyll aspirins for those stinking headaches on New Year's Day and we'll see you then.
