For some time we have been chided that there was never any news of your scribe and his tribe. This, of course, is hardly true since our marriage was duly broadcast and the names of a dozen and a half worthy injun observers were recorded along with such salient facts as the date, place, and - oh, yes, the name of the bride. To the surprise of no one, subsequent columns included the heralding of two sons, happily not at the same time. Once more, however, it is appropriate to tell both of you who are interested that an alteration in status has occurred and whatever records you might keep on the subject can reflect the new assignment as midwest regional sales manager for Hydromatics, Inc. Pleased to say we can stay right here in Evanston which is a great if arid community. The new post will present considerable opportunity for news-gathering from Ohio to lowa and into Michigan, Minnesota, and Badgerland. Cohorts take note: change your phone numbers early!

So far none of that reportorial scratching has taken place, so we'll decimate the backlog of worn-out clippings and replay a few old items to keep you current while awaiting stories on the pre-game picnics at Harvard, Yale, and Princeton.

THE HITCHING POST

Promised some further data on the Harvey Graves-Nancy Ray Copp affair held August 6. Have learned John Foote was best man and Al Wentworth was among the ushers. Have also learned that our unabridged dictionary is okay: Nancy's learning yearning at Watson School was psychiatrics, not the unknown field of "phsyiatrics" dreamed up here last month.

INFANT INFO

Paul Canada sent a most welcome note recently extolling the virtues of Paul M. Jr. born August 10. Epithets of "Tad" and "Tiger" already having been applied to the third Canada (not dry yet) lead one to believe he's gained over the initial six pounds, ten ounces he had on arrival. Fran and the daughters, ages five and three, agree with Paul that the little guy is great.

TEPEE TOPICS

The Alumag which reached you last month noted the academic activities of several classmates. Additional data on scholarly doings includes the fact that the new dean of students at the new Harvey Mudd College in Claremont, Calif., is Gene Hotchkiss.... Another recent emigrant from New England is Pete Bucklin who is an assistant professor at Berkeley. Weylene Bucklin says he's teaching managerial economics and lamenting the fact that local vineyards now use machines instead of girl-sans to squash the grapes. Bucky, ya gotta understand the economics of the whole thing! ... In Pittsfield, Tom O'Connell is handling the myriad tasks that go with the job of director for the first of the Massachusetts junior community colleges.... Further south in New England, Mark Tourtellotte has been awarded a post-doctoral fellowship for study at Yale from the National Institute of Health, U. S. Public Health Service. Mark is an instructor in animal diseases at the University of Connecticut, where he's a candidate for a Ph.D. in bacteriology. ... In the nation's capital, Bob Hartshorn works as archives assistant for the general reference section of the National Archives.

Bill Broadbent has joined the Mutual Benefit Life Insurance Co. of Newark, N. J., as an attorney in the law department. Prior to joining the insurance firm, he had been associated for three years with Hein, Smith and Mooney, a Hackensack, N. J., law firm. Bill lives in Maplewood, N. J., where he is active in the Civic Association, the Maplewood Glee Club, and the Boy Scouts. He was admitted to the New Jersey Bar in 1954.

Bob Cone is a landman for Standard Oil Co. of Texas in Midland. You ought to have lots to do, Bob, trying to cover all the land of the longhorns! ... Bob Hutchinson works for the Air Force Cambridge Research Center in Bedford, Mass., as a physicist on the problems of firing rockets into the ionosphere to determine its magnetism and how that effects navigation, communication, and survival of man out there. 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1 BLAST OFF! ... Another interesting occupation is represented by Howie Lawrence who has joined with two other New York sound technicians to form Audio Techniques, Inc. Offices and studios are at 247 West 46th Street. Hi-fi addicts in ad agencies might jot that down for business or pleasure or both. Since 1956, Howie has been production supervisor for Robert Lawrence Productions, a major Manhattan motion pix producer for TV and industry. He was also veep of their industrial division, Louks and Norling. From 1951 to 1956 he was production manager of the A-V Tape Libraries Division of AudioVisual Recording Company. One of the partners, by the by, is John Beaumont '41.

For quite a time we've carried a torch for the idea of designating a few '50 members as Regional Chairmen or some such highsounding title. The goal is NOT to usurp the normal and proper functions of local Dartmouth Clubs which often have varied and ample programs of their own, but simply to supplement such schedules with strong support by our Class. If the West Woodshed Warriors want to pow-wow at Dartmouth Night, who would WANT to go off in a different direction? On the other hand, you've probably shown up at one or more of these gatherings only to find your nearest contemporary was eight classes removed from ours. Could have been a good class, sure, but you expected to see Zach Zilch of '49 and maybe your old roomie. We now have, thanks to Class Chairman Frank Harrington, the nucleus of a regional organization to talk up these local affairs and, on rare occasions, plan something for our gang, give or take a year or two. In Boston, FrankDickinson will be our focal point and volunteers to help can report to him at 46 Seminole Rd., West Acton. The New York area has such a vast Indian population that BobMcIlwain is co-ordinating the efforts of DickEchikson for the city, Clift Whiteman in New Jersey, and Chuck Gardner on the New Haven right-of-way. "Crash" hangs his hat at 40 Brookdale Gardens, Bloomfield, N. J. Ech gets away from Macy's first floor occasionally to say hi to Lee and children up at 1235 Park Avenue. H. C. W. resides in Montclair, N. J., at 19 Highland Avenue. The Gardner's garden is on Fillow Street in Norwalk, just three martinis from Grand Central on the 5:46. The third area covered so far is Philadelphia, Eastern Pennsylvania, and (since Donna) Nag's Head, N. C. The latter, we're told, was brought North to the banks of the Schuylkill by the hurricane and JimMoore has taken it under his wing. Jim's abode is 415 Roberts Road, Bryn Mawr. In due course, these gentlemen may be able to help errant members locate classmates, insurance salesmen, and apartments, as you move into their territory or pass through on trips. Try 'em!

Next month we hope to have a report on the meeting of the Class Execs held in New York on October 28, the eve of the Eli fracas. If it doesn't include what you want to know or think should be done, let us know! In the interim, your fin will win a grin from Si Morand ... dues are due.

INKADENTAL INTELLIGENTZ

Jim McCrum must have received the new assignment he was expecting from John Wiley, the educational book publishers. How's Denver, Jim? ... WhitWilliams, selling for Container Corp. of America, has moved to Strafford, Penna Bob L. Wilson is eastern sales supervisor for W. R. Grace operating out of Cambridge.

Don't be surprised if you get a questionnaire from us asking for some news. A reply may not give you great satisfaction, but you'll be rewarded by seeing your name in print, more than likely correctly spelled, and that long-lost buddy who wonders where you've gone with his lawn mower and Scotch cooler will be happy to know you're enjoying them. In other words, what's up, Doc?

Happy Thanksgiving Day!
