Now maybe you can count on seeing the sun shine sometime before the Ides in your part of the world, but around here we're likely to be up to our elbow in tattle-tale grey snow with nary a glimpse of Sol for several weeks. Among other things that means doing the shopping for Valentine's Day via bus (leaving the family heap cozily ensconced in the garage). And the joy of utilizing public transportation at least affords a brief moment to scan the ALUMAG, which in turn gives faint hope that you'll peruse these lines.

INKADENTAL INTELLIGENTZ - The plans of Walt Lindenthal (see last month's column) to make J. C. Penney a mecca for schuss bunnies seeking new togs and hickories should have reminded us to reveal that John Piane Jr. is a veep of Dartmouth Skis. The info is almost a year old and probably not news to anyone. We trust that the report is otherwise accurate though we wondered when we saw KUA called "Kimbel." Maybe it's a new spelling gimmick. Anyhow, by now Squeak and Toni's children (Joan and Michele) should have attained the ages of 14 and 11 respectively and John may have sloughed some of his extracurricular activities which included being on the board of directors for Universal Tool, Dartmouth Co-op, Rotary International, and Upper Valley Development. Fellow skiers probably knew he used to be a v. p. of S.I.A.

Some time ago we tipped the tribal topper to several injuns who'd done one thing or another to merit acclaim for what they'd attained. Among those we think we've missed is Ralph Muehlig who was appointed by New Jersey's Governor Hughes as a member of the state board of mediation last November. Ralph is one of seven members in addition to being Manager of Industrial Relations at the Westinghouse TV-Radio division in Metuchen. Also, Ralph is prexy of the Middlesex County United Fund, veep of the New Brunswick-Raritan Valley Chamber of Commerce, a director of the Middlesex County Safety Council, and of the Middlesex County Employers' Legislative Committee. He's also a trustee of the John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Edison and of the N. J. Tri-County D Club. Busy boy!

Another item from around Hallowe'en was the news that John Newby would talk on "The Wall of Shame," his experiences on both sides of the infamous Berlin wall and in the Communist countries of Europ6, at the Medfield (Mass.) High School. John is vice president of the Whetton Oil Company of Needham.

John Brotherhood, vice prez in charge of marketing for the Hartford National Bank and Trust Co., was chairman of the public information committee for the 1964 Greater Hartford Community Chest-Red Cross Drive last fall. . . . Stan Frederick, manager of the Francis I. du Pont office in Seattle, is state chairman for the 1965 Heart Fund Campaign. Besides being a member of the Seattle Tennis Club, Kiwanis, and Toastmasters, Stan was finance director last fall for the campaign of Washington's governorelect, Daniel Evans, chairman for the Heart Fund last year.

Among other things, Tom O'Connell was featured speaker before the Great Barrington (Mass.) PTA last fall. More recently, Tom and Annie put on another of their annual Shakespearean dramatic programs at the Springfield Museum of Fine Aits. Subject this time was "Richard III."

During a recent one-day sojourn in the Windy City, Ken and Nina Rothchild joined us at the near-North apartment of Herband Carol Ray for guess what before dinner. Unbeknownst to us previously was the fact that Rock is head of Minnesota's state commission against discrimination and has also bought controlling interest in the mortgage banking firm where he works and has become president.

MEDICINE MEN - Several eons ago Bill Sickel was kind enough to return our questionnaire revealing his post as director of pathology at the Springfield (Ohio) City Hospital, one that dates back to April '63. He and Ruth (married in Swarthmore, Pa., in 1956) have an almost eight-year-old daughter, Evelyn. . . . Dr. Tom Tomasi is chairman of the division of experimental medicine at the University of Vermont College of Medicine in Burlington. . . . WarrenCox seems to have it "made." After a dozen years of marriage, he and Barb finally got three whole days away from their four youngsters on a jaunt to Miami. The Tank is a psychiatrist in Louisville the other 362 days of the year. . . . Hank Meijer says little has changed in the past twelve months, "still practicing internal medicine at the big USAF Hospital in Wiesbaden which functions as the diagnostic and treatment center on the European Continent for Air Force men and their families." Major Meijer wished he had more time to travel but concedes a central location at least helps.

ATTAIN AND ACCLAIM

D Club of Phillie Publicist Dick Lippman '42 sent along the good news that Rog Hillas was elected an executive vice president of the Provident National Bank in the City of Brotherly Love. After various assignments in the bank since 1951, Rog was made a veep in 1960. ' He's a director of the Soabar Co., Cotiga Development Co., P. H. Glatfelter Co. and E. M. Hanson & Co. The father of four Gwynedd Valley youngsters, Rog is chairman of the Lower Gwynedd Planning Commission, trustee of the William Penn Charter School, and member of the board of directors of the Children's Aid Society of Pennsylvania.

An announcement dated December 1 revealed that Ken Clark's law firm has changed its name to McCloy, Wellford & Clark. If your riverboat drops you off in Memphis, the offices are in the First National Bank Building.

Don and Jan Waite wound up the year in grand style with an all-expenses-paid vacation in Nassau as a result of winning the sales contest put on by "Factory" magazine, the McGraw-Hill publication. If you've seen the book you know there must be some other good space angels on the team for it is crammed with advertisements. Don must have soared to be a winner!

GALA GATHERING - In the next month or so we should get a better fix on prospects for June 18-20, but right now a smashing 150 Fifties indicate they'll be back for the Fifteenth Fling. Eric Miller said only about a third of the class had responded to his mailing by year end, so many more should have said aye by now. It will be surprising if you aren't there! Come on, now, don't be what the airlines call a "no show." If Pete and Lois Nottage can trek from Ha- waii, people in Haverstraw, Hempstead, and Haverhill should have no problem. Send your card to Rick soon (281 Pondfield Rd., Bronxville, N. Y.) so the committee can order bed, board, and beer. See ya! See ya there!!!
