DeOrmond Tuss McLaughry, head football coach at Dartmouth, was guest speaker at the 40th annual meeting of the Cheshire County Dartmouth Alumni Association held at the Ellis Hotel Monday evening, December 28. Charles F. Burke '23, president of the Association, was master of ceremonies. Eighty-two members and guests were present, which established a new attendance record.

President Burke in his introductory remarks commented on the fact that our interviewing committee was doing a fine job with its applicants to the College and hoped that the good work would continue. George Hanna '39 introduced prospective students at Dartmouth. Officers elected for the following year are: President - Delcie D. Bean '31; Vice President — B. Crampton Carrick '35; Secretary-Treasurer — Russell G. Putney '22. Executive Committee: A. Harold Kendall '18, Harold S. Fuller '12, Kenneth Arwe '40. Examining Committee: George T. Kingsbury '38, W. Harry Watson '03, Charles F. Burke '23.

Coach McLaughry reviewed the past season and spoke of the prospects for the coming year. He described the football training program and prophesied that Ivy League football would be vital and rugged in future years. Tuss agrees with those who believe that Dartmouth should maintain a realistic approach toward athletics as there is no doubt that a good football team is a great morale builder. The speaker, who will attend a meeting of the rules committee within the next few weeks, hoped that the one-platoon system will be retained.

Following the speech, motion pictures of the Dartmouth-Princeton game were shown with comments by Tuss.
