The Dartmouth alumni of Oregon receivedDean Donald H. Morrison of the College at adinner Saturday evening, April 3, at theHeathman Hotel in Portland, Ore.

There were 34 graduates and their wives, including Mr. and Mrs. N. G. Nieman, whohave a son, Peter, now in the freshman class. Many of our Portland members were out oftown for the weekend but we made an interested and attentive group to the address givenby Dean Morrison. Everyone was enthusiasticabout him and we were impressed with hisclear-thinking analysis of educational problems of instructor supply and quality. We aresure that faculty administration at Dartmouthis under excellent management.

Our president, Harold Wendell '17, was away on a business trip but he sent us a telegram of greetings and good wishes. We enlisted Peyton Hawes to act as toastmaster and he performed very capably.

Harold Hirsch '29 developed a short circuit in his flash-light equipment, so that an expected picture-recording of our meeting did not materialize.

Special tribute was paid to John W. Ash '99, of Corvallis, Ore., who was there with his two daughters, Mrs. Mathews and Mrs. Simmons, also from Corvallis.

After the hotel meeting, Peyton Hawes '23 and Mrs. Hawes held Open House at their home on Montgomery Drive.
