Being how at the time of this writing it is not too far off from St. Patrick's day, I thought you'd like to have a rundown on Jud and Grace Hannigan's kids. Here they are, the four Shamrocks: Kathryn, Michael, Timothy and Patrick. Now if that ain't the wearin' of the green, I want to hear about it. Jud's now the assistant paper mill supervisor for International Paper in Hudson Falls, N. Y. Jim Kennedy stays by the Dartmouth Indian lore by being secretary-treasurer for the Cherokee Warehouse Co. He and Dorothy have Jim III, 3½ years old, and Jane, 1½. Larry and Nancy Kidder have come ashore from the Navy to apply his good Annapolis training plus a Master's degree in Industrial Engineering from Case Institute of Technology as an industrial engineer for the Baldwin Lima Hamilton Corp. in Cleveland. Larry's wife is the former Nancy Leech, sister of Dr. Tom Leech. Where is brother Tom these days? Larry and Nancy have a very terrific family, three girls and a boy. Your rate of performance (and I'm certainly not one to comment) is consistent and good, Larry. Frank Cole has three children, two girls and Frank IÌ. Frank reports news of seeing Jack ("Where is that Newsletter") Rankin, BillHessy, Clyde Meder and Jim Forsythe. Bill and Jean Hessy just had their second girl this past Dec. Frank is a stock broker for the "Herd" (Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner and Beane) in Trenton, N. J. Bob and Sally Bogart have a boy and a girl; Bob's district manager for Bogart Co.
From Texas Dave Clarke sends word of his work for Travelers Insurance Co. as a mortgage loan representative. Dave is also doing an energetic job as secretary of the Dartmouth Alumni Club of North Texas. Bet that covers a passle of land. It's interesting to see Dave refer to a section of Texas termed "North." The impression that reaches these regions is that there is a Texas, a Middle Texas and a South Texas but never a North Texas. Jim Dougherty is vice president of the the Canton Malleable Iron Co. The Doughertys have a Jim Jr. and a girl Susan. Here's a prospect for Dave Weld, the lumber baron. Vern Lamb is manager of his own lumber yard, the Lamb Lumber Co. The Lambs have two children, Carol Ann and Vern III. EarleAngstadt is at Young and Rubicam as a merchandising executive. That Y&R's a highpowered place. Say hello to my old man, Earle. Suzanne and Earle have a little girl, a years old. Earle saw Rex Sleighter recently no further news. What's with you these days, Rex? George Fagan is a carpenter on Staten Island, N. Y. The Fagans have a 2-year-old boy Shaw. Sparky Bolton will be around to sign you up for his Young Republican Club of Staten Island, George.
A much appreciated letter from Jack Childs '09 keeps us informed on the '46s in the Cleveland area. Don Foukal is engaged to Lois Bell of Lyndhurst, a suburb of Cleveland. They will be married this spring, and predictions are that they will have tall progeny. Don is 6'4" and Lois is 5'10". Don sells for the Troxel bike saddle company in Elyria, Ohio. Len Gammel got fed up with high office rents in the city and bought a country place in Aurora, Ohio. He has a guest house that's converted to an office, which should prove profitable. Len will be the only dentist in the village.
Jim Felter responded to a release via this space with a newsy letter from what must be the next candidate for statehood - Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. He says there are 7,000 Americans there in this wonderful income-tax free land, no TV (that alone is a real attraction), '55 model autos, ideal climate (a topcoat season, a spring and a summer). Sounds great, jim wasted no air time. Going over he met and proposed to Darcie Williamson from Elmont, N. Y. They will marry in Geneva or Paris.
Dr. Fred Richardson is practicing in Lebanon. He and Priscilla are living at 18 Bank St., they have a family of three boys. BillHuebner just joined the faculty of St. Peter's College, Jersey City, N. J., as professor of marketing. Joe Vitalini is directing a construction job in America's hottest and newest air base land - Spain. Joe's wife Rita and their little girl and boy are flying over to join him. Dr. Bill Grant, assistant professor of zoology at William and Mary attended the annual meeting of American Society of Zoologists. (I'll bet that was a terror as they boiled the old stray dogs for exhibits. Remember all those nice little pups that wandered into Silsby Hall and then the next day there they were with nothing but their fibia and tibia showing.)
In Norwalk, Conn., George Carroll was singled out for praise in a letter to the editor for his excellent background and activity in seeking office on the Democratic ticket for State Representative.
Bob Goldman and Suzanne Weisberger were married in January in NYC. Suzanne is a graduate of NYU. Jim Hartman and Constance Mindlin were married in Wilton, Conn., at the bride's home on November 18. Jim's bride was a secretary for Mrs. Eisenhower during the 1952 campaign. Jim is a merchandising executive with his family's firm Marcelle, Inc., a New England chain of women's apparel shops. Claude Venon and Barbara Snell were married in NYC January 29. Claude is with Owens-Corning in the city and Barbara is on the editorial staff of Time magazine.
In New Britain, Dr. Dave Warren was married to Janet Doran. Among the ushers were '46's Jack Witte and Matt Gately. Janet is a graduate of Tufts College. Dave is a resident physician at Rhode Island Hospital, in Providence, where they will live. Over in New Jersey Jean DeBlock and Joe Clain announced their engagement. They plan an April wedding. Jean's a Rutgers girl. Joe's doing graduate work at Montclair State Teachers College.
Just in time to take advantage of Governor Harriman's new income tax proposals and deductions, up in Albany, N. Y., Rod andAnn Beach just had twin children, Elizabeth and Rodney. They were born February 8. Congratulations Rod, that's great news. And also along the Hudson River in Garrison, Don and Jackie McNally announce the arrival of Donald Francis Jr. He was born January 27. Good luck, "Macs." See you soon, I hope.
Lowell and Mary Thomas continue their extensive travel in the Red and Mediterranean Sea areas. They were feared lost this week while flying their own Cessna plane from Africa to Europe. They were last heard from in Dharan and then turned up on the island of Sardinia; '46s are seeing a lot of Dharan this year.
Well, I'm going to tell my troubles to the Bluebird, and sing, lay eggs and eat worms
