That displaced sage of Manchester, N. H., Don McAllister, now living in New York City, is trading his bachelor status for a settled married life. Don is engaged to Katherine Percy of Katonah, N. Y. They'll be married this spring. Katherine is a graduate of Chapin School and Bennett Junior College. Don has been with Morgan Stanley & Co. since his return from Korea where, although in the Navy, he was doing behind-the-scenes work ashore with the Marines. From down in Atlanta, Ga., the city of "Fah Points" (Georgian for five points), comes news that Reece Ready is now managing the Film Dept. of the DuPont Co. It's been a long time between news of the Bridgeport flash, Al Belinkie. Then the new shingle of A. Belinkie Attorney at Law goes up and Al is underway. He is living in Stratford and his offices are in Bridgeport. JimKearney is a salesman for GE Television with the Langdon & Hughes Electric Co. in Utica, N. Y. Jim, what in the world is "black-day-light?" From Tiffin, Ohio, Don Wall reports of his job as ass't director of sales for the United States Glass Co. Sandy Treat is with the Aluminum Imports Co. in N.Y.C. Seems last word of Sandy was Canadian, or was that just a little ski trip? Here's some good news about Bill Grant. Bill has just been named an ass't professor of biology at William and Mary. Bill got his Ph.D. from Yale last June and until this appointment had been a member of the faculty of Gettysburg College. That tour of duty in Williamsburg ought to be very pleasant work if my memories serve me well.
Judging from my phone bill and my wife's account of collect telephone conversations with Bud Wingate and Dale Armstrong, the second '46 class dinner at the New York D-Club set up by Ralph Smith must have been a four-alarm success. Here's a pieced together resume: - From New Jersey Ralph pulled in Bill Schulting with referee's whistle; ZeusMorse now one of Montclair's civic leaders; Frank Guarini; Harry Carr; Dave Weld, the greater Jersey area lumber baron; Bill Davidson, that daddy of twins; and up from Red Bank, Fred Wightman.
From the City, that "cracker barrel" Dartmouth Club group gathered, including DoughLeigh; Jim Lynch asking for leads on country estates; Mush Judson who's MOJUD ads always catch the eye, with a well turned leg; Larry Weisman; Charlie Furness; Bill Rosenfeld; Matt Gately; Gene Bokor; and Bud Bullock, who was recently engaged to Marilyn Lathan, from Attleboro, Mass. Congratulations, Bud.
In from Long Island came Aud Brindley, recently made ass't sales manager for General Foods Institutional Sales Div., and Wells Fendrick with a few link belts for sale. FrankEttari joined the Westchester group of BudWingate and Dale Armstrong to make it an all-hands evolution. Dale and Bud offered several ideas in collect phone calls, finally using Phil Stedfast as the name who was calling. Phil gets around, but class hoopla can't bring a guy from the Carolinas for a one-nighter - or can it? Ralph can't remember two or three of the other members present. I'll accept all complaints from the misplaced persons. It is understood that this dignified group wandered the "after dark" area of N.Y.C., ending with participation in "foams' and fun at "Bill's Gay Nineties." At the dinner general approval was expressed for a '46 male and female dinner at the Club; husbands should bring wives, single men have dealer's choice, and the tentatives date is April 30. Postcards will be mailed as usual.
Our ambassador member, Dave Whipple, is travelling again. Dave is a career official with the State Dept. who begins service as vice consul at the American Embassy in Rangoon. Dave and his wife Carolyn flew from Washington, D. C., via London and Burma. They gave their 2-month-old daughter Susan her first air voyage. They sure believe in starting her off in top style.
Frank Gaughen has just been appointed a Life magazine salesman in Chicago. Frank was formerly with General Mills and Curtis publications. Lester Granger was the featured speaker at a Boston social work leaders meeting recently. Lester is the executive secretary of the Natl Urban League and chairman of the U.S. Committee of the International Conference. Lester is a native of Milford, Mass., and he's an honorary member of '46. BobHunt's diligent night law school study just won him his law degree. Bob passed his bar exams in January.
Lebanon's roving bachelor finally touched down at the altar. Bruce O'Brien and Mary Ann McGuire at Lowell, Mass., were married January 31. Among the ushers were Dave Nassif and Joe Donahue up from Dallas. Mary Ann had her sister Eileen (Mrs. J. P. Donahue) as matron of honor.
In New Milford, Ga„ at a World Religion Day meeting Rev. Dan O'Connor was cospeaker in an all-faith program. Dan is matriculating at Union Theological Seminary, N. Y.
Received good news via announcement of Dick Howe's marriage to Beverly Felt out in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were married February 25. Beverly and Dick will make their home at 2931 South 3435 Last, Salt Lake (that address reads like a pirates' treasure map).
And here's a wind-up on one of our North County residents — Charlie French. Charlieand Bee live up in Wolfeboro, N. H., where Charlie is the friendly "Flying Red Horse" dealer in town. He and Bee have four children and first-hand report tells of their recent purchase of a large farm house to contain their group. News of this was offered by Jack Whitman who, with Jean and Wellesley neighbors Jacquie and Jack "NEHI" Coughlin, were skiing in the area. They lured Charlie away from business only one day for some skiing. Growler really turned in a Hans Schneider performance on those slopes between "sours." How many trips down was it, Jack, one or two?
Good luck in your local egg-rolling races.
