All you '46s keep your eye on the sky; one of our boys made it. From a most informed and reliable source, we learn that Bud Scheu now owns his own private airplane. Now a "roll" to Bud has double meaning. Bull and Bobby Hinman '45 sent along the news. As it now stands Bud and Molly will be landing at Westchester Airport for a branch office Green Key meeting for Dartmouths unable to return to the Hanover Plain. Bud as you know is with (and, from indications above, well up with) Scott Paper. Bud, you are hereby designated roving ambassador for '46, you're the answer to reaching our widespread 900. (Never mind that joke about the roll of tickets to "Fanny.")

As you read this the 1955 Alumni Fund drive will be underway. Jack Whitman has again devoted his winter months to organizing a great group of agents to contact you. For once let's put '46 in its rightful position as a leader in participation in the Fund. You've all had a good year, liquidate a share of your coveted "Saskatchewan Infinity Uranium Co." stock and get your check to Dartmouth.

A wonderful letter came to Bob Kimball from Dr. F. O. Carpenter. He is unselfishly devoting himself to the aid of the Indians at Forks of Salmon, Calif. The generous Doctor and some associates are doing missionary work helping these forgotten first Americans. His reward, he says, comes from the response of his patients and the absolutely beautiful raw country he works in. He closed with a wish to remain in good standing with Dartmouth and ,46 because of his desire to help the "Indians." Bob Wenzel also writes Bob of his appointment as Foreign Service Officer for Indochina. He is assigned to implementing the Geneva Agreement, and the evacuation of Hanoi by the French. He does see Dartmouth men even there (this, "round the girdled earth" stuff is true) namely Howie Thomas '43 and John Mecklin '39. Also look up DaveWhippy, Bob. Hank Parker writes Bob that he'd "trade the swaying palms and warm breezes of Cartagena, Colombia, for a little of that famous bouncing barometer New England weather. Ruth and Jack Howard have just added a new boy to the clan, Jonathan William. Great news, this new guy sounds like a replica of "46's Fred MacMurray."

Rex Sleighter is president of a very dapper men's furnishing business in New York, Whitehouse and Hardy. It is customary to see Rex romping Fifth Avenue in a dusty pink sport coat and Indian Madras walking shorts. Really great white bucks are a specialty.

That tower of S. S. Kresge, Paul Malinowsky has laid aside his task of managing the world's leading tropical fish purveyors, that mart of the inflatable toy, those girls with the informed sales approach, and joined Bent and Bent Inc. in Hartford. Paul will serve as representative of the new life insurance department. If Paul collected any of Kresge's gimmicks a prospect may expect a tie-in sale of life insurance - one inflatable backyard plastic pool with any purchase this week of a $10,000 modified life plan.

Some good sound editorials with a North Country flavor will be emanating from the Claremont (N. H.) Eagle. Nelson Bryant is now managing editor. He had been chief of the Eagle's Lebanon bureau. Nelson has two sons and is married to the former Jean Morgan. Bruce O'Brien has just been made an assistant vice president of Reciprocal Managers Inc. He will be in charge of the New England Division and maintain his office in New York City. Bruce lives in White Plains on Quimby Ave.

Hal Mahmarian is engaged to Barbara Ann Runge of Fort Lee, N. J. Hal's with his dad s firm of H. K. Mahmarian of Ridgewood. His bride to be is with the C.B.S. TV network. T. C. Andrews tells of a modest reunion with the "Bop King" Fred Wilrmont of Columbia Records. They met in Richmond, Jim Ruch '47 joined them and in Tom's comfortable Virginian way he expressed a very splendid time. Tom has two children, Bebbie and TCA III. On Ed Murrow's "Person to Person" TV show a month ago the whole Andrews family made a wonderful appearance. Charlie Bodley, the confirmed Marine, is now a captain and is at Quantico. The Bodleys have two little girls, Karen and Nancy, and a Chuck Jr. We'll be pointing to that big 10th reunion, Charlie.

Paul Donovan is teaching in the Boston school system. He married Mary T. Sullivan from Marshfield. They've bought a house in Cohasset. Paul tells of their godparentship for John and Floss Doren's fourth child Sarah. He saw Jim Hartman and mentions Jim's marriage recorded here last month. Paul keeps the old oar in the water as treasurer of the Boston Teachers Alliance.

Are you near your check book? DO IT NOW. The Alumni Fund does a whale of a job,— let's be a big part of it this year.
