Last night in Dayton, Ohio, three 46's held a so-called "reunion". Old Theodore "Faj" Fajen and wife Patty were in town from Milwaukee and along with Dick and JeanScharrer, my local "legal eagle", we spent most of the evening talking about the great 10th Reunion and the coming 15th. As you know, Faj is Reunion Chairman for our 15th in 1962. Faj and Patty were here in the Dayton area for a couple of days as Faj was judging a National Field Dog Trail in Lebanon, Ohio, - just down the pike a few miles. As a matter of fact, he has become quite a prominent guy in national hunting dog judging and flies his own plane around the country in pursuit of this interesting avocation. Of course, any of you who were at the 10th will never forget Faj's duck call with which he kept everyone in stitches the entire weekend. He is a bit larger than he was in college (as a matter of fact his weight is up to about 250) but he is still the same old guy and already has a number of ideas lined up to promote the 15th. He, Patty and their three children are now living in Manitowoc, Wis., and Faj is in sales work with the Kieckhefer-Eddy Division of Weyerhaeuser Timber. The company is a manufacturer of corrugated paper board.

Faj brought us up-to-date on the following '46s: Bill Trump is in sales with radio station WEMP in Milwaukee and doing very well; on their way to Dayton, Patty and Faj spent a night in Columbus with Nick and Stony Vorys. Nick is an M.D. and is taking his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Ohio State University Medical School and this year is working on a grant from the American Heart Association. When he finishes, Nick plans to set up practice in Columbus with a group of OB men; FrankWhite is in the road building business with the White Construction Company in Milwaukee and Faj says he is playing real good golf; Old "Tiger" Spence Smith, since the merger of his company and Faj's company, is now a business associate of Faj's and he is in a sales capacity for Weyerhaeuser and traveling the mid-West — he and Lois live in Wilmette. Dick Scharrer and I sure enjoyed seeing old Faj and you all will be hearing from him during the next couple of years on our next reunion.

Recent Coincidences-Several weekends ago as I came dripping out of the shower at the country club, a friend of mine yelled at me and said "Gillaugh, I've got something for you." It so happened that my friend had been in California with friends and had run into Jack Novascone - the old red head. Jack wrote me a note and sent it along back to Dayton with my friend; friend says he looks good, has a "doll of a wife" and is peddling all kinds of mattresses for Simmons. While watching the PGA Golf Tournament here at one of our clubs in July, I ran into John Steele "the cement mixer from Cincinnati," John, as you know, is in the cement and building supply business and lived here in Dayton for several years while operating a branch of their Cincinnati company up here. He has since moved back to the Ohio River town and is doing exceedingly well and looks very good. Bill Carlson is on Foreign Service in San Jose, Costa Rica with the State Department. His parents now live here in Dayton and my mother happened to meet Mrs. Carlson and found out that they both had sons in the Class of '46.

Earle Angstadt is with Young & Rubicam as "one of the Madison Ave. boys" in New York City. Dr. Foster E. Bennett is a Neuro-psychiatrist in Philadelphia. Ray Gallagher can be addressed at Alameda County Hospital, Oakland, Calif. John Savage is with International Business Machines as a data processing representative in New York City. Your secretary recently received a letter from Mrs. Ruth E. Douglass, a Gray Lady at the West Roxbury, Mass., V.A. Hospital, who has looked after our Bobby Grant for a number of years there. As you know Bob has been afflicted for some time with a type of multiple sclerosis but in spite of his disabilities has continued an extremely marvelous spirit. Many of you know that Bob wrote a song, "My Evening Prayer," which was played at Dartmouth Night by Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops Orchestra. He also had a feature article published in the Saturday Evening Post in 1954. Bobby Grant is a true Dartmouth '46, and his indomitable spirit to live should be an inspiration to all of us. To those of you in the Boston area, go see Bobby. Others of you who knew him, drop him a note; one of his greatest thrills is hearing from Dartmouth friends.

In winding up this report I am very sorry to report the recent death of Bud Wingate up in Connecticut. Details will be carried in the In Memoriam column of the MAGAZINE but on behalf of the class we extend our deepest sympathy to his family.

That's it gang. Let me hear from you - see you next month.
