With this issue Josh Clark's name will replace Cap Hedges' at the head of this column. Many of you know that Cap accepted the job reluctantly for fear he would not be able to give it the required time due to his frequent trips away on business. Now his Louisiana real estate management will require even more protracted visits. Accordingly your executive committee has accepted his resignation with great regret. Fortunately Josh has volunteered to take over for the remainder of Cap's term. Cap rates a vote of thanks, Josh a vote of confidence, and the class, congratulations on its good fortune in having such good men willing to serve.

The class duplicated its turnout at that pre-Harvard game dinner of a year ago. The nineteen were Briggs, Burleigh, Carlisle, Josh Clark, Crooks, Fred Eaton, Farrell, French, Greenwood, Chick Jordan, Learoyd, Lovejoy, Mayo, Sanderson, Seaver, Smith, Dick Stevens, Wheeler and Whitman. A few news items were picked up. First, all had a grand time visiting with one another and members of contemporary classes. Bill Carlisle, a most welcome returnee to the ranks, is living in Bridgewater, Conn., where he is sharing in the activities of the Southbury Training School, a school for retarded children. Jack Crooks was the principal speaker at the 50th reunion of New York Military Academy. Fred Eaton, another newcomer to this occasion, was continuing his plan of seeing the games as he and Marguerite glided back and forth between Cohasset and Scarsdale. Gabe Farrell's son is a consultant to the college on acoustics for the Hopkins Center. Bob Sanderson was about to leave for his Florida home. Next June Dick Stevens will have completed 40 years as principal of Grafton High School and will retire to enjoy life in the same town. Al Wheeler was congratulated for getting Walt Greenwood all the way from Cleveland. Regrets were received from several. Ken Ballou had an unfortunate fall in his home which got him into the hospital with a fractured right leg and right arm.

Fred Harris, one of two living members of the National Ski Hall of Fame, was honored by his native Brattleboro at a dinner on Nov. 2, where he received a plaque officially designating him as a member of that select group. Here are some excerpts from the Valley News account of his activities in this field. "Harris was a prime mover in popularizing the sport of skiing not only in New England but throughout the nation. In 1922 he founded the club honoring him on Saturday. He was made a life member in 1941 and the 65-meter jumping hill which he designed and to whose construction and upkeep he has contributed several thousand dollars was named Harris Hill in 1951- To encourage junior jumpers, he designed and constructed a 20-meter jump - and it is regarded as the best and safest of its size in the East. Harris continued his active interest in skiing after he left college and in 1913 he became the first person to climb Mt. Washington on skis. In 1920 he climbed Whiteface Mountain. Then, in 1922, he helped organize the United States Eastern Amateur Ski Association, the same year the Outing Club was founded. He was the first president of the U.S.E.A.S.A. Since 1923 Harris has contributed three Winged Ski trophies to be given to the jumper winning the annual meet three times. Another outgrowth of his interest is Brattleboro's Winter Carnival."

Ed Chamberlain writes that Grace is in the Winchester Hospital with a broken hip. Mildred Rollins has given up her work with the Greenwich Women's Club and has taken an apartment at 22 Putnam Park, Greenwich, Conn.

Bob Keeler is back in Cincinnati where his daughter has moved and is living with her at 222 Hill Top Lane.

The world traveller returns home. Check "Sticky" Pendleton in at 95 Maple St., Maiden 48, Mass.

Lin-Yi Ho is still in Hong Kong, B.C.C., c/o Fracis K. Pan, 1 Lower Albert Road.

Capt. Odlin has settled for the winter at 529 Midvale Ave., Los Angeles 24, Calif.

Ruth Backus is hoping to sell her home in Webster, N. Y., and go to Burlington, Vt., to be near her daughter "Puss" whose husband George Welch is a practicing physician there.

An oversight of an important item. Last May the Burt Coopers announced the marriage of their daughter, Emily Jane to Norman E. Fall.

If there seems to be a paucity of news, it is not that I do not like to type but Editor Widmayer wants the space for his own use.
