Rain, rain go away, but come back every Saturday! This became the rallying point of the '56 football crowd as they watched the Big Green grind out victories each weekend in the midst of flood conditions. Self protection from the elements forced all to round up the worst outfits available, similar to what we wore for fraternity sink night.
Lee Smith and Lt. (j.g.) N. D. Fowler had a short reunion this past summer in Iwakuni, Japan. Smitty was flying with an anti-sub squadron, but now is back in Hanover finishing his last year of Tuck. Lt. Fowler is still in Japan assigned to Electronics Countermeasures, Squadron One, enjoying the Orient 100%!
Howie Clinch has taken a job in the Credit department of the National City Bank of Cleveland. It looks like he'll be at home here, for the bank has the largest concentration of Dartmouth guys of any institution in the area. Murray Kaplan is in Ohio also, in the sales game.
Lt. Norm Fridland is with the Deep Sea Divers School, USN, Naval Gun Factory, Washington, D. C. Phil James enjoys engineer status with the Southern New England Telephone Co., Hartford, Conn. Steve Alven is in the banking field, associated with the Merchants' National Bank, Syracuse, N. Y. Whit Jenkins enjoys training with ColegatePalmolive Co., in New York.
Mai Lambing. is an investment banker with Thomas & Co., Pittsburgh, Penna. BobLeighty is doing psychiatric social work at the Mental Hygiene Clinic, Fort Jackson, S. C. And Jim Greene is with the credit department of the First National Bank of San Jose.
It's about time Dorothy Dix gave a run down of the latest lovers' lane. Lt. HarryGeorge and Margaret Page became Mr. & Mrs. last May. Up until recently, Harry was serving in the Navy aboard the Haynsworth, but received his discharge on December 1. Last June, George Groch and Arlene Gilbert were married.
Frank Simms is with the National Tube Division of the United States Steel Corp., in Pittsburgh. He recently became engaged to Judith Ann Lowe of West Hartford, Conn. Other engagements include Bill Kustrup and Nina Hindenburg of Washington, D. C. Bill is now in his fourth year at Georgetown Medical School.
Paul Withington and Suzanne Sieg were married this past September 19. Another September wedding included George Haliday and Deborah Tolman. George is an officer on the USS Blenny, stationed at the U. S. Submarine Base, New London.
And last, October 3 marked the union of Jon Gundersen and Anne Clark of Clarksville, Tenn. Jon is associated with the Travelers Insurance Company of Hartford. Deborah Lynn Heller was born May 6, 1959, to Mr. & Mrs. Bob Heller.
Irving Clark is a Supervisor, Installation & Service Engineer with General Electric Co., San Francisco, Calif. Mansir Hicks is in the Business Training Course with G.E. in Hudson Falls, N. Y. Bill Wheeler is a sales representative with the American Brake Shoe Co., San Francisco, Calif. Larry Scammon is an engineer with Thermal Dynamics Corp.
Rollin Montelius is Assistant Brand Manager, Clairol, Inc., New York. Dr. Howie Farmer is an interne at the Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. Both Bob Montgomery and Chuck Henry received an LL.B. degree from the University of Denver this past June. Dr. Al Friedman is an interne at Lenox Hill Hospital, N. Y., and Dr. Gerald Finkel, also interning, is at the Bronx Municipal Hospital, Bronx, N. Y.
Wally Rogers is Traffic Manager for station WSB-TV, Atlanta, Ga. Tom Conlon recently became a member of the Connecticut Bar Association. He has joined the legal staff of the New Haven Railroad. Tom is married to the former Mirian Nolen and has a son, Sean Thomas.
Army 2nd Lt. Ken Rice was trained in matters relating to the disbursing of funds, accounting, the military pay system and personnel management at the Finance School, Fort Harrison, Ind. Before active duty, he was employed by Gordon E. Ainsworth Assoc.
