On the morning of March 4 there went through the United States mails the following bit of information:
Miss Lucy Whipple Bridgman and Reverend Charles Clarkson Merrill announce their marriage Sunday, the third of March Nineteen hundred and fifty-seven in the presence of their immediate families Eliot Congregational Church Roxbury, Massachusetts At Home after the third of April 74 Kirkland Street Cambridge, Massachusetts
Perhaps a brief word of personal comment will be allowed. It may be noted that this Secretary is following the example of his eminent classmate, Dwight Hall, who after the death of his first wife, married the lady who had been his secretary for many years.
Miss Bridgman was my office secretary for nearly nine years when I was with the Congregational Board of Pastoral Supply. During that time, Mrs. Merrill came to admire her greatly and to express her admiration in terms of affection. Indeed, she sent such a message by me to Miss Bridgman shortly before her death. The memory of those wonderful 49 years which I had with Bessie Nichols Merrill will be kept green during the years which, if God wills, I shall have with Lucy Bridgman Merrill. Incidentally, the date of our wedding was also my 85th birthday.
Secretary, 74 Kirkland St., Cambridge 38, Mass.
