The Big Green squash team posted one of its best records with nine victories and five defeats and a fourth place in the Eastern Intercollegiate matches. Since last report it lost to Yale 8-1, defeated Amherst 7-2, walloped Penn 9-0, and edged McGill and Montreal in Canadian matches by identical 5-4 scores.
The Indians were hampered at the end of the season by the loss of the number two player, Dan Pierson, who injured his knee, and all players moved up a notch with Don Bartlett coming into the number nine spot.
The lineup during the past month, in order, was Dick Hoehn, Dave Shephard, John Horan, Tony Jenks, John Porter, Captain Aaron Daniels, Jack McDonough, Butch Waid and Don Bartlett.
Four Dartmouth players entered the Eastern intercollegiates - Dick Hoehn, Dave Shephard, Jack McDonough and John Horan. All except Hoehn were eliminated in the first round of play, but Dick got through to the semi-finals before losing to Ben Hechsher of Harvard. On this basis, however, the Dartmouth team collected ten points to finish fourth in a field of 13 teams - a strong end to a fine season on the squash courts under Coach Red Hoehn.
