On February 4, the Dartmouth Club of Western Pennsylvania was treated to a rare and very welcome visit from John S. Dickey '29. As president of Dartmouth, President Dickey was able to re-define Dartmouth for us in a way that made us more proud of our college than ever. He explained that the improvements planned for the next few years will maintain Dartmouth's place in the vanguard of institutions of higher learning.
President Dickey's talk took place at the Westinghouse-Jones and Laughlin dining room at Gateway Center Building #3. Our club president, George Scott '25, presided over the dinner. Bill Hinkle '33 asked the blessing and Ed Chinlund '29 introduced President Dickey, Ed's classmate. Rem Drury '48 and the writer said a few words about our current recruiting activities and the coming Glee Club concert.
Rem told about his committee's activities in reaching boys who had the qualifications for entrance to Dartmouth. Representing Bob Funkhouser '49 and his committee, I announced the forthcoming Dartmouth Glee Club Concert to be held at Chatham College on March 26. Four tickets will be mailed to each alumnus about two weeks previous to the concert. We hope all members of the Dartmouth Club of Western Pennsylvania who possibly can make it will attend.
