On March 26 the Dartmouth Club of Western Pennsylvania was host to the DartmouthGlee Club. Bob Funkhouser '50, headed up acommittee with Ralph Lynch '53, as assistantwhich arranged to hold this year's concert inthe Chapel of Chatham College, a localwomen's college. The young men sang beforea packed and enthusiastic house. We weretreated to another of Glee Club Director PaulZeller's fine evening's entertainment of formaland informal singing. The latter songs wererendered mostly by the entertaining Injunaires. The complete group also sang some calypso melodies, including the Banana BoatSong, Harry Bellafonte style.
All in all it was a very successful visit. Theboys were the guests of the Chatham Collegeduring their entire stay. Since the young ladieswere on vacation, there was a dormitory put at the disposal of the Glee Club, thus eliminating the housing problem we have had in previous years. Although the College has had to increase its fee for the concert, Bob Funkhouser '50 successfully arranged his budget, so that a tidy sum was left over to contribute to the scholarship loan fund to which our club has been making donations for many years.
The following weekend Bob Blackmail, head coach of football, paid us a visit to confer with those boys in this area who have applied to Dartmouth for the Class of 1961 and who have shown football ability in High School. To accommodate the 15 or 20 boys and to provide a place for Coach Blackman to speak to the boys collectively, Stew Steffey '43, opened his home for the evening. Coach Blackman also showed movies of the 1956 football season including the 19-0 shut-out of Princeton.
Coming up in the immediate future will be the college's decision about the some 60 local boys whom Rem Drury's '4B, enrollment committee has been encouraging for the last six months. Aside from this announcement, we would like to remind all Western Pennsylvania Dartmouth Alumni that the Club meets every Wednesday at Kaufmann's 12 th floor restaurant.
