Ev Murphy, now manager of Connecticut Golf Land, an 18-hole chip and putt course in Talcottville, Conn., was seeking the nomination for town clerk in that town. At the time of writing we don't know the results of Ev's contest, but we hope he and some of our other political aspirants fared well.
With the resurgence of the economy we received a long list of employed. Dave Dyche slid into the training program of the J. P. Morgan & Co., Inc. in New York City; Roily Haynes moved in with the data processing division of IBM in Hartford, Conn., and John Moderwell took a position of mechani- cal engineering with Abbott Laboratories in North Chicago, Ill.
The rending cry of "Timber" from Hastings, Nebr., emanates from lumberman Dave Martin, who is chopping for the Martin Lumber Co. there. Larry Kelley is a sales engineer, operating out of Chicago, Sonny Silmore, a salesman for the Hassett Mining Co. in Philadelphia, Pa., Scotty Rambach, a banker with the Detroit Bank & Trust Co. in the Motor City, and John M usa, an electrical engineer in Farmingdale, N. Y.
Last spring Dick May was prowling the European continent on a journalistic beat; Don DesCombes was an insurance consultant for the Marsh McLennan & Cosgrove Co. in Los Angeles, Calif.; and George Nimitz was a traffic manager for the Converse Rubber Co. in Maiden, Mass.
Data processing student salesman with IBM in Chester, Pa., is Jim Love. Sales financing in the cash control section of the General Motors Acceptance Corporations comptroller's office is Shelly White. Living at the Dartmouth Club in New York City is Bob Perlstein, who is with the New York Life Insurance Co.
In the last report we had from the ranks of the military Jim Bowers was in Europe with the Army, Pres Clark was in the Frankfurt branch of the Army's Audit Agency in Germany, and Lt. j.g.' Dave Briggs was aboard the USS Fessenden somewhere in the vicinity of the Hawaiian Islands. Air Force lieutenants Larry McCurdy and Jim Mannion were stationed at Harlingen, Tex., and Otis AFB, Mass., respectively.

John and Liz Scoville and son, Jack III, are in Evanston, Ill., while John toils as a civil engineer in the foundation and soil mechanics department of Harza Engineering Co. in Chicago. Dam designer John and family have seen a good bit of Barb, daughter Beth, and Joe Smutnick, who are also living on the North Shore.
Wanda, son John, and Bruce LaFollette are at Fort Sam Houston, Tex., where Bruce interns in orthopedics with the Army. The old doctor will commence a year of "boning-up" on pre-specialty surgery at Fort Benning, Ga., in a month or two.
Lt. Bob McCartney received an individual flying award for his superior airmanship during an aircraft emergency at Dover, Del., last June. Bob is a C-133 Co-pilot with an Air Transport Squadron at Dover.
We learned that Lt. Harry Rockefeller was aboard the USS Tirante when it went down off New London, Conn., not long ago. Rock came out of it pretty well inasmuch as the Tirante is a submarine and this was his first assignment after completing his "silent service" training at the New London sub base.
Up to the hitching post at the Charleston Air Force Base at Charleston, S. C., on Sept. 11, went Lt. Mike Messore and Constance Jeremiah of Edgewood. R. I. Bill Brooks did the honors as best man. Mike, who recently passed his Rhode Island Bar exams and is now with the Judge Advocate General's department, has worked this out so that Connie can take care of the office work as well as domestic duties, since her Radcliffe and B.U. Law background enabled her to pass the R. I. Bar exam too.
Judy Weinberg of Cleveland, Ohio, and Cornell nailed Dan Weidenthal as he emerged with his diploma from Western Reserve U. Med last June. Dan Neiditz ushered at their wedding on June 22 in Cleveland. The groom started a rotating internship at the Mount Sinai Hospital in the same city this fall.
Ned Slay best-manned and Dave Fitch ushered as George Haskins was led to the altar on June 29 in Greenfield, Mass. George's bride was Barbara Eike of Greenfield. U. of Michigan Law student Sam Bradley and Lucille Knudson of Polluck, S. D., and South Dakota College were wedded on August 21.
Stu and Tina (Dickey) Stearns, married in Hanover, N. H.. on August 16, are setting up shop in New York State. Tina, a Smith grad, will teach school in Hudson Falls, N. Y., and Stu, with a Master's in Education from B.U., will be bending the hickory stick over pupils in nearby South Glens Falls.
Barbara Zevin of Brooklyn, N. Y., a Smithie, announced her engagement to Don Berlin in August. Don is associated with the law offices of Stevenson & Willette in East Orange, N. J., and Pan-American stewardess Elizabeth Gyss of Stamford, Conn., and Northwestern zoomed in to receive a diamond from Armstrong Cork Company's Bob Higbee last May.
A pair of income tax deductions are on record — a daughter, Lori, to the Chuck Tannenbaums on June 7, and a son, Benjamin, to Lorna and Ben Bowden in September.
Please note the new address of your correspondent, who has forsaken the pleasures of education at last to accept a position with the African Research Branch of the Department of State in Washington, D. C. The Defense Department's Don Juan, Lee Huff is under the same roof. Although seldom home because of the city's busy social circuit, Lee and his übiquitous green Volks have even been spotted parked in the driveway of the Secretary of Defense. If you are in the vicinity look us up. I should be around anyway.
