It was a pleasant surprise to have recently received a visit from Elizabeth, "Brock" Gilson's daughter and her husband Elmer Emery, from Woodstock, Vt. In the course of our conversation it was brought out that Woodstock had set a record for average snowfall. I'm sure that none of us in these other northern latitudes would want our areas to match this rather dubious honor. I learned that the Emerys' daughter is now teaching in East Andover, N. H., and this is following in the pattern set by her grandfather "Brock."

Elizabeth Gaffney, daughter of GeorgeTong, writes me many picturesque details relating to their present location. She and Bill are living in Missoula, Mont., a college town which has an elevation of 3,100 feet. This makes for real comfortable living during the summer months. This is a sharp contrast to Lewiston, Ida., where Bill's father and mother live. Lewiston is situated in a canyon at the confluence of the Clearwater and Snake rivers with an elevation of 750 feet. This general area is also historically remembered as the route followed by the Lewis and Clarke expedition. At this writing Elizabeth was enjoying the cultural advantages of the college community. Bill, instead of engaging in his usual fishing activity, was working through seed catalogues looking forward to planting a garden when the frost is out of the ground.

These rather meager notes close my 14th year as secretary of the 1900 Class. This has been a most agreeable and heartening experience for me and I look forward to the new year with considerable enthusiasm.
