After a slow first quarter, the Dartmouth team really got rolling in the second period against Brown to score three touchdowns to win 20-0 before a shocked Homecoming crowd of some 16,000 at the Bruins' home stadium.

Early in that second period the Indian defense kept Brown deep in their own territory. A Bruin punt rolled dead on their 94-yard line and some ten plays later, with Jake Crouthamel doing most of the carrying, Dartmouth was camped on the Brown five. Bill Gundy then passed into the end zone to end Scott Palmer who leaped up and batted the ball into the waiting arms of Bill Hibbs for the first score.

A few minutes later, after Dartmouth had held Brown in check again, Captain Al Krutsch partially blocked a Bruin punt and the Indians took over on the Brown 32-yard line. Seven plays later Crouthamel slashed over from the two-yard line and Gundy passed to Brian Hepburn for the two conversion points, giving the Indians a 14-0 lead.

Dartmouth scored its third touchdown with seconds remaining in the second period when halfback Jim Henander got the ball on a handoff and, aided by a key block thrown by Al Krutsch, went sixty yards to make the score 20-0.

Dartmouth had three more scoring chances during the second half, but the Bruin defense tightened as the game went along, although they were never able to mount a really effective offense. So the Indians had their second Ivy League win in a row.

Jim Henander, taking a pitchout, races 72 yards to the Penn 12-yard line where he was overhauled by John Terpak (24).
