The annual dinner meeting of the Boston Alumni Association was held February 13 at the Hotel Statler. Approximately 475 alumni were in attendance in addition to the fathers of several underclassmen. The featured speakers of the occasion were John F. Meek '33, Vice President and Treasurer of the College, who was pinch hitting for President Dickey, who, it was reported, missed what would have been his thirteenth Boston Dartmouth dinner in the thirteenth year of his tenure on February 13, due to a mild attack of virus. Also in attendance were Captain Joseph Palermo '58, the most honored Dartmouth football player in recent years, and Alvin Krutsch '59, captain-elect for next fall. Football Coach Bob Blackman, introduced by Athletic Director "Red" Rolfe '31, regaled the gathering with anecdotes of his experiences at Dartmouth and gave a review of last year's highly successful season. President Wes Beattie reported on the activities of the past year which included the addition of one new affiliated club, the Dartmouth Club of Southeastern Massachusetts, to the Greater Boston Federation; a successful concert by the Glee Club in Boston; and an open house for successful applicants for the Class of 1961.
A contribution of $1,000 to the Greater Boston Alumni Association Scholarship Fund was made.
