By the time you read this you should have received the new class directory, which is a result of a labor of love by Milt Johnston, and we are all indebted to him for it. I am familiar with all the tribulations and aggravations he experienced in seeing this through, and on behalf of the Class I want to express our thanks and appreciation to him.

Niels Nielsen reports from Danville, Ill., that he and wife Jane recently returned from a beautiful Caribbean cruise on which they visited their daughter Mrs. Johannes Heyman, who lives aboard a yacht Good Hope at Martinique. Niels spent a pleasant time in Fort Lauderdale, with Ed Nilsson, who is "somewhat retired and active with the local yacht club," and Niels also spoke on the phone there with Coley Judd, who is still active in real estate and banking circles. Niels jels also reports that while in California last fall he saw Joe Carson and talked with Courtney Catron, and that Wally Dittmar of Highland Park - I thought it was Northbrook, Ill. - is now a retired dentist. As for himself, Niels advises he is very active with Equity Oil Co. and Great Lakes Chemical and has been able to give some business to Pep Minte of E. F. Hutton in White Plains, N.Y. Although he travels extensively, Niels would welcome any '36ers at 405 W. Raymond, Danville.

The Dartmouth Glee Clubs visited Greenwich, Conn., late in February, and this afforded a chance for a get-together of classmates in the area. A cocktail party at Jack Smith's, followed by a dinner at the home of Jack's next door neighbor Bob Button, were attended by Theo and Bob Prentice, Cathie and Paul Lynch,Marjie and Milt Johnston from New Canaan, and Nancy and John Sawyer from Darien. Yumi Smith and Decima Button outdid themselves in hostessing a great cocktail party and dinner respectively. Also attending were ten members of the Glee Clubs. Still skeptical members of the Class should take heart from the very nice female undergraduates who were present. Also seen at the concert were Allene and Bud Horn, who advised they now live in Rye, N.Y.

The word from Larry Jump in Colorado is that snow conditions were terrible there this winter with some ski areas like his not even open. He expects to sell his shortly but has been asked to remain as general manager temporarily. Larry's wife Marnie has been visiting with Dick Durrance and wife in Sun Valley and reports the same conditions there. Larry advises that he has a daughter who is a junior at Yale, saw Shep Curtis at the Christmas party at the Denver C.C., sees Frank Kappler's son all the time, and that his boat, the Phoenix, is icebound at Westport Point, Mass.

Dorothy and Dick Allen have reported at some length on their visit last spring to the People's Republic of China, which they found to be a "strange and fascinating country." They were part of a group of 22 people sponsored by the Vermont Academy of Arts and Sciences, and they write that the trip was a unique and fascinating experience. Fortunately they missed the terrible earthquakes which wrought havoc in areas close to places where they had been.

Another belated note on our reunion. Bob Ervin writes that because of recurrent insomnia he rose early and went on a stroll past Hopkins Center. A large sign over the entrance had said "WELCOME CLASSES OF '30 '31 '32!". However, a wag had removed the letters "C" and "L" from the second word, and Bob has photo evidence thereof. Get it?
