FEBRUARY 1959 HUGH K. BROWER

La Salle Street alumni turned out 47 strong on Wednesday, January 7, to hear Gaylord A. Freeman Jr. '31, Vice president of the First National Bank of Chicago, discuss the business and economic outlook for 1959. Although forewarned that such economic symposiums are the type of thing that "you wouldn't walk across the street to hear but would fly across the country to give," the program was timely as well as stimulating. Mr. Freeman envisions a continued upward trend during 1959 in all major components of the economy. One month earlier the S.R.O. sign was out when Coach Bob Blackman was in town to sum up the recently concluded football campaign.

On February 4, Henry L. Parker '26 and Tig Lyon '25 will report on the current situation at the College following attendance at official meetings in Hanover. At this meeting, if Tom Rowe '50 can withstand pressure from Blair Watson, we shall also have films covering the past football season. John Loveland's ('49) Luncheon Committee along with the Speakers' Arrangement Group, composed of Al Louer '28, Gene Hotchkiss '22 and Dick Mayberry '44, all deserve a lot of applause for their efforts on behalf of the Association this year.
