Ernest Brown, 272 Main St., Wakefield, Mass., reports that he and his wife Elaine are in good health and spirits. Grand to be able so to report after passing middle age. Balance of letter cryptic; Hanover 100 miles-7 mos.; 25 miles-5 mos. Guess what he is telling us is that he is at home in Wakefield for 7 months of the year and for 5 months not far from Hanover. He used to summer near Grafton, that community where is located Grafton County Jail noted in ballad and song. If you are Grafton way next summer and are looking for "E.L.," better ask at the Post Office, am sure you won't find him at the jail.

Roy Thorpe died Feb. 6, 1959 after a long illness. The "sec" had a fine letter from him late last fall full of optimism and North Country humor and through his good wife, Gladys, had been in contact with him almost to the end. It is not possible to tell the joy which direct words from classmates brought to Roy. The sympathy of the class goes out to you, Gladys, and we want those pleasant contacts made at reunions to continue. Doc Bennett, Ned Kenerson, Harold Hess, Chet Hadley and Andy Jackson sent word of Roy's death and also from each came a kindly word to Roy's memory. For the "General" a happy friendship begun in precollege days came to an end.

Gladys Bergengren is again wintering in Gainesville, Fla., near her son Roy Jr. '35 who is connected with Univ. of Florida. Gladys was recently visited by A1 Pratt and his wife and said they were both in A-1 shape. Al, if you are that good and able to go calling, how about paying the class a visit with a newsy letter?

An inquiry as to the whereabouts of George (Gink) Ford. Latest address is The Royalton, 41 W. 44 St., New York, N. Y. George early in college began to indulge in showmanship, later his life's work. Wonder how many will recall the wrestling match in Bissell Gym staged by George between 2 husky Ethiopians, employees of different eating places? Robert Jones, butcher and meat cook at Hallgarten and Lunchcart Henry, the purveyor of short orders at a lunch cart at the lower end of town, were rivals for a comely piece of ebony employed at R.R. station at the "June." Learning of this rivalry Gink worked it to the point where the pair agreed to a wrestling match to decide who should have sole claim to the favor of the dusky damsel. The night set, an overflow crowd arrived at the Gym. Hat was passed by Hallgarten boys to cover some promotional expense. Plenty of action from sound of bell, quickly becoming more like a fist fight than wrestling — blood began to flow — the crowd whooping it up — when suddenly Lunchcart got hold of Jones and like a terrier shook and tossed him in the air and Jones fell to the floor knocked out and leaving Lunchcart the winner. Seems Lunchcart had been top wrestler at a Canadian lumber camp where he had long been employed as cook. A good time was had by all except Jones and his Hallgarten supporters who after settling some bets found little left of the hat-passing intake. Undaunted by this early reversal George went on to have a most successful career in the entertainment world. Hayden Conner and Bob Brewer also had active parts in this bout. Perhaps you can supply the lapse, George, and at the same time bring the class up to date regarding your own good self.

This morning closing date saw a pair of robins on back lawn. Spring must be around the corner. Hurrah. Remember Clothespin and Palgrave. Coo-coo-jug-jug-coo-e-e-e-too- whi t-too-woo-o-o-o-o.
