Mark 'em down.... June 19, 20, 21!

These are the Reunion dates around which to plan your month of June. There is no question now that this will be our biggest and best, outstripping the big Tenth by a large margin.

For those of you Easterners who may occasionally switch from Haffenreffers to a glass of Rheingold and like to ballot for the pretty young miss to lead the year's advertising campaign, you certainly picked a dandy this year! Perennial bachelor, Jack Grimm, has given wholehearted endorsement to your selection and has elected Miss Rheingold of 1959 to be Mrs. Jack Grimm. I don't know just when they will take to the long carpet, but trust it will be before we see them in Hanover.

I am by nature a procrastinator but just for kicks or possibly the result of some defective apple juice, I got a big head start on that class directory thing. I can turn it over to a printer today, but with the way you guys move around, it would be as current as a hula hoop next week. For example, Bob Fairbanks who was with the Natick Bulletin a couple of weeks ago is now a newspaper editor in Hoisington, Kans.; Ted Brush who was out in Oregon with BigelowSanford is now in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, with Archibald Holmes & Son Carpet Co.; Bill Benoit has moved into a new home in Winnetka. The ladies are completely uncooperative in the genetics department, and I've learned the error of my ways in deviating from comfortable procrastination.

Whenever things get dull in Springfield, Mass., they get up another testimonial dinner for Senator Stan Zarod. At the one on Feb. 1,800 of the faithful convened to hear the president of the state senate describe Stan as "one of the truly bright young lights of the democratic party" and a law maker with whom "men of all parties and persuasions are able to work for the common good." I hate to carry on about Democrats like this, but up in Worcester a member of the Democratic City Committee, attorney Jim Donnelly was recently elected to the board of the Worcester Mechanics Savings Bank. I think Phil W. Brown is a Republican and I'm pleased to announce that the North & Judd Mfg. Co. of New Britain, Conn., recently named him general sales manager. Phil had been resident manager in Atlanta prior to his promotion.

Malcolm McLoud and Lydia Ludke have settled on April 11 as the wedding day. As sales manager of Evans Products in Plymouth, Mich., Boog and bride will make their home up there. Also with the sales managers, Ray Hensler has been named Eastern Sales Manager for Whiting-Plover Paper Co. taking care of the Middle Atlantic and New England States. Kindly Ben Jones, the best salesman to come along since the Lone Ranger, has done a marvelous job as General Agent for Monarch Life in Cleveland and has recently had his scope widened to cover all of Ohio and West Virginia. Ben has been with Monarch eleven years and within three years of starting made the boys on the board look up when he became the company's leading producer. And every year since he's been productively more dramatic.

I don't know whether we could call Bill Hinson's work dramatic but he's the Dainty Didy Baby Laundry man in Portland, Ore. In a less earthy endeavour but still with his main interest in the kiddies, Dick Morgan is with Fisher-Price Toys, Inc. in East Aurora, N. Y. Buffy Crawford Hills blew in town the other night, and among his complaints is that I don't have the intestinal fortitude to read my own column and hence I not only repeat but fail to catch items which were cut due to space limitations. I'm probably repeating this, but only because I'm impressed, let me say that Dave Ferguson is a bank president, the Thomas County National Bank in Colby, Kan. And that Buffy Hills is a hard working, enterprising, successful printing executive whose sole objective in life (beside accumulating capital) is to reduce one executive function a year. He's going to knock off about twenty-five of them at a crack in April when he and Franny ease down to Nassau for a couple of weeks. There may be a conflict for him in attending Reunion, but he assures me that at least Franny will be on board which, realistically, is most important.

Again, I may be repeating, but Art Kiendl is the Dean at the U. of Colorado. JackLewis seems to have made a tough life for himself and Barbara and the six youngsters. He's residing in Miami (of Florida) and in his spare time is District Group Manager of Conn. General Life Insurance Co.

In this directory thing I'm making up, I'm trying to categorize you by industry; i.e., Doctor, Lawyer, Thief, and must admit I've lost a lot of TV time trying to place Dick Backus. He is with the Woods Hole Ocean-ographic Institute in Woods Hole, Mass. I hate to lose time with Maverick so I've got him under Education, Electronics, Geology, Government, Military, Science, and Surveying. And still don't know what he's up to.

Jim Bodine with the Borden Company is a lot easier, or Syd Bowers with Arabian American Oil, or Bob Blair with Cuyahoga Steel and Wire, or Jim Dahl with Star Woolen Co. There's no trouble categorizing Jim Farley with Macy's, or Joe Hatch with du Pont, or Ross Higier with Crescendoe Gloves, but what in the world do you do with guys like Don Hiltz of Jutes Industries, Ltd. (which sounds like something from Phsychy I) or Dick Mayberry with Haloid Xerox (which sounds like Greek I) or Al Meyers with the North Shore Waste Paper Co. (which sounds just terrible)?

Since writing the above I've peeked at this week's New Yorker and, by George, Jack Grimm has got good taste! Getting back down to earth, Babe Spitz is with the City Coal Co. in New London, Conn., and Herb Storfer is with Parfums Corday in NYC.

Among the other reasons why you'll want to get back to the plains this June is that this is one of the first times since Adolph Hitler was a child that we could boast Ivy League titles in Football, Hockey, and Basketball in one season. Even Joe Vancisin whose Yalees came through with a very respectable 9-5 Ivy court record must feel some pride.

I see where the Reunion boys refer to our Reunion as the Fifteenth Fiesta, so I'll keep in tune with hasta la vista!

David A. Schirmer '43 has recently joined theDiamond Gardner Corp. as director of newproduct development for the company's Diamond Match Division. He had previouslybeen with GE as a marketing consultant.
