Howie Deese is seeking a three-year term on the Wakefield, Mass., School Committee. He has been engaged in local insurance sales and service for the past twelve years, three of the years in sales supervisory work. He is the owner of North Corner Service Mobilgas Station and is active in the First Congregational Church, PTA, and a coach of a Little League farm team. He is also assistant cubmaster of Pack 14, Cub Scouts. Howie and Elizabeth have three children; David, 10, Susan, 7, and Timothy, 3.
Dr. Robert Berry is living in Tappan, N. Y. Will Caryl continues in his civil engineering work with Wilsey & Ham, living in Millbrae, Calif. Harry Krummel is with Moorman Mfg. Co. in Quincy, Ill. Jim Lightner is living in Puerto Rico. Jim was previously with Raymond Pile Co. Charles "Salty" Markley is assistant lab. engineer, Consolidated Films, in Hollywood, Calif.
Lt. Cmdr. Steve O'Leary is executive officer on the USS Thornback at Charleston Naval Shipyard, Charleston, S. C. George Twining is assistant cashier of the Bank of America in Monrovia, Calif. Larry McGill is with the Friden Calculating Agency in Worcester, Mass. He spoke recently on communications before the Worcester Chapter, National Machine Accountants Assn. in West Boylston, Mass. Larry was a graduate assistant at the University of New Hampshire in 1947, then worked with Liberty Mutual Insurance Co., The Todd Co. Inc., and Theo. Hofstatter Co. Inc., before going with Friden in 19156.
Rev. John L. Mansfield, a curate at St. John the Evangelist Church, Swampscott, Mass., for the past three years, is among seven diocesan priests who have had their applications for military duty as chaplains approved by Cardinal Cushing. He will serve in the Air Force. Born and educated in Newton, Mass., he entered St. John's Seminary following his graduation from Dartmouth, and was ordained on Feb. 2, 1953. Prior to going to Swampscott, he served for three years as a curate at St. Anthony's parish in North Woburn, Mass. At St. John's, he has done extensive work among young people and is the director of the High School Study Classes and the Boy and Cub Scouts. He also serves as the spiritual director of the parish Holy Name Society.
Pete McGrath was recently appointed assistant agency comptroller of Connecticut Mutual Life. He joined Connecticut Mutual in 1946, serving in the actuarial and accounting departments before transferring to the agency department in 1949. He was promoted to agency assistant in 1952. Dave Wright, vice-president and cashier of State Bank of Des Moines, lowa, has been elected to the bank's board of directors. Dave has been on the staff since 1951 and previous to that was with the Shell Oil Co, doing accounting and sales work.
Ed Tevald has been appointed as Connecticut State Prison's first classification supervisor. For the past six years, Ed has been a public assistance field representative of the State Welfare Department. Ed's new position is part of the modernization recently put into effect and entails the supervision of case workers, classification and programming of all prisoners, case work counseling and family service work for inmates.
Dexter Brooks was recently appointed executive consultant for Schine Enterprises. Dexter was previously affiliated with Booz, Allen, and Hamilton, New York, as senior consultant in finance and general management. He has also been account manager for Clayton Securities Corp., Boston bankers. Rev. Bill Rogers was appointed pastor of the East Berlin Methodist Church, Conn., at the annual meeting in January. Bill was employed in the insurance business in Springfield, Mass., prior to entering the ministry. He is presently attending the Hartford Theological Seminary. Bill and Ruth have three children; a girl 11, and boys 10 and 5.
Roy and Dorothy Murray are the proud parents of Mark Randall born January 12. Our records show him to be their third boy. Roy is living in Reseda, Calif., and is resident engineer with Raymond Rosen Engineering Pro., Inc. in charge of sales and engineering for the West Coast. J. V. and Fran Kelly are the proud parents of twin boys born May 25, 1958 in Maracaibo, Venezuela. The boys' names are Bruce Edwards and David James. After ten years in Venezuela, the Kellys left Creole and came back to live at 5047 Cheena Drive, Houston 35, Texas. Jim is working with Union Oil & Gas Corp. of Louisiana in the Exploration Department specializing in foreign activities.
